The best thing about this park is it's location right across the street from the beach. Kind of pricey as they charge for every kid. Also, sites are too close for the tire rim fire pits they offer. Great indoor pool and spa. There are several restaurants within walking distance. You have to climb the dunes at Cape Kiwanda, what a view! Park has a mish mash of park units and/or full time unit rentals. The sites are also fairly tight to get into. Courteous staff. We will stay here again for it's location.
Oregon state parks are a safe, sure bet. It does seem that budget cuts have affected the staffing. Only one lane was open for check in at the prime check in night so Rigs were backed up. We used the express check in lane where we dropped a paper copy of our reservation in the box and came and got our window pass later. Good space in between spots, with long, level and paved pads. Very quiet right at quiet time. You can ride your bikes from the campground to the Aquarium and nearby Rogue brewery.
This is a great park. Nice space between sites. We had a water and electric site. The restrooms in our loop weren't well maintained or cleaned. There is a new bike path from just north of the campground all the way into Long Beach. It runs ~ 8 miles one way. It's paved level and runs right behind the beach in the dunes and grass. Awesome day trip with the kids. We will return here often.
This is a great, clean family friendly park. The facilities are kept up much like a private resort. There is hiking and biking as well as all the normal beach activity nearby. It can get a bit windy so beware the awnings if you leave them unattended. There are summer concerts and other events that celebrate the park's role in the Lewis and Clark expedition. Even in bad weather this was a great stay. Paved pads, full hookups and plenty of space between guests. This met all our expectations.
