I am kind of amazed to see some of the negative reviews of this place as we had a good time this weekend. If you are looking for a quiet time in the woods, this is not the place to go. This park IMHO is geared to family and kids and that is why we went. It is a bit pricey (8 bucks per person on top of the RV rate) but there is a good deal of stuff to do. Mini golf, lazy river, "hamster cage", pool, slides, movie night, smores, etc. They are apparently expanding the park and adding a lot more cabins. The RV spots are tight, not going to deny that, but again this is not the place to go if you are wanting wide open spaces. I am not ready to call this a 5 star resort but it is not bad either. The sites we stayed at were gravel ( that is one thing I wish they would change). The staff was very nice and helpful and plentiful as you could easily find someone in uniform if you had a question or needed help, park was kept clean, saw a crew going around picking up trash, they have a real nice store there and a food court near the pool. The wifi was out in the section where we were located and the staff apologized profusely and said they have been waiting on AT&T to arrive to fix it. There were a lot of golf carts and bikes riding going on, but didn't experience anyone being reckless. No issues with people being drunk or obnoxious, just families out there having a good time. I could see this place getting very busy during the summer with a ton of people participating in the water activities. My family is looking forward to going back.
Great park, pretty tight turns throughout. Sites are a little snug, but the scenery makes up for it. ATT Cell Service OK, not many OTA channels for TV. There are a lot of trees, but I did see folks with satellite setups so I am pretty sure you can get a signal. Price was with full hook ups.
Very nice place hidden in the middle of Grapevine Texas. Helpful Staff, very clean park and felt very secure. I didn't try the wifi but you get access for two devices. AT&T cell service was strong. Bathhouses were immaculate condition. Only negative I have is some of the sites were not as level as I would have hoped.
Had a great time here this weekend. Park was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Plenty of activities for kids, great scenery in the hill country. Many Yogi parks are expensive to begin with and then nickle and dime you for everything, but I think this place was fairly priced and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Restrooms were clean and well taken care of. RV Parking spots were a little to cozy. Our RV neighbor's fire pit smoke kind of bombarded our RV but all was well. Sites were pretty level, hookups clean, and easy to use. Wi-Fi was pretty well useless. Got a signal but could not load any webpages.
Just stayed here at spot 60. Highly recommend this place. Really enjoyed the it, no troubles at all, bath rooms are dated but kept pretty clean. I really didn't see any trash anywhere in the park. Great hiking trails and saw a bunch of kids on bikes so I think they have biking trail as as well but cant swear to it. RV sites are very spacious, ours wasn't real level but for the layout, I will take it any day, hiking trails are nice. AT&T service spotty but you can get a signal most places, Satellite signal a bit tough to get cause all of the trees but would much rather have the trees around us like we did. No dump station but park manager said just pull through one of the open drive through spots with full hook ups and dump there. Only negative thing I can say about this place is I think the park host needs to to tidy up their site, stuff laying around their RV really takes away from the place and be put away and in order like the rest of the park. With that being said, they were super friendly people. I don't think anyone will be disappointed staying here.
We stayed here and really enjoyed the park, the park is very clean, well spaced, plenty of shade. ATT signal very strong (posting this review from our RV spot right now) bathrooms very clean. The walking trails were exceptional and made so event the most amateur of hiker could enjoy them, even in 100 degree heat the shade helped keep us cool. The park host were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Two drawbacks are no sewer hookup (dump station on the way out); and if you are trying to use your satellite dish, you are out of luck because of all the trees (it is a trade off for the wonderful shade) although one or two RV's managed to get a signal. You won't be disappointed in this place.
We stayed at this park over the Presidents Day weekend. Our camp location was Cozy Circle. The rangers, staff, and park host were very friendly and helpful. Park was very clean, sites were pretty level. Great hiking trails, very pretty place. The weather was bad the first day or so we were there so it is hard to tell what the playground was like, but from a short distance it looked very well maintained. Even with the bad weather, there was a large number of people there, but it did not feel packed. Over the air TV reception was OK, but you could not keep the channels “locked in” very long. AT&T wireless signal was decent. Driving in was a little tight, but I think that keeps this place as secluded as it felt. The cabins looked nice from what we can tell, and the Oak Haven part of the park is where we would like to stay on our next trip. In my opinion, this is little park is a jewel and a well-kept secret. We will definitely be going back.
We really had a great time at the RUSK KOA. We came here to go on the Polar Express ride in Palestine and were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the grounds and the friendliness of the staff. They have a nice little store/shop on site as well as a place to refill your propane bottle. Some of the sites have a concrete "deck" area. We also rented a cabin so that the inlaws could come along and it was spotless (this is coming from a guy who is a germaphobic). They had satellite TV in the cabin as well. I went to the store to buy a bundle of firewood and they delivered it to my campsite as they said they did not want me to have to wait for the guy to bring it out. I think the guy almost beat me back to the cabin. There was a pool but it is shut down for the winter, nice little playground for the kids. ATT Cell signal was good (no 3g, just edge). The Wi-Fi worked great. The price reflects the rate for the campground with a KOA discount, not for the cabin. We will be back to this park.
We stayed at Yogi Bear over the Thanksgiving Holidays. I think it is fair to say the good things about the place. It is very kid friendly, many activities for the kids to do, and the staff is very nice and helpful people. The campers were there having a good time, enjoying life. NO complaints about that part. The bathrooms were pretty clean and the park really did not have any rubbish or other trash laying around the place. With this being said, for the price point (we stayed in a cabin and my parents stayed in a travel trailer), the park could use some maintenance and general housekeeping. The mini-golf was covered with pine needles and leaves and had obviously not been blow off is quite some time (these were not "fresh" leaf or needle droppings). it was hard for the kids to play golf because of this. The statue by the flag pole same issue and this is a photo spot. The pool was not open cause of the time of the year but the concrete around the pool needed resurfacing. Some bare feet would get messed up, cut or hurt with the cracks and rubble there. I have no issue with the place making a profit, but Yogi was trying to get in your back pocket for everything. A golf cart rental is $95 per day, $125 for 2 days and so on. If you bring your own golf cart a permit is $30. This is not a $70 per day RV park, nowhere near that standard IMHO. Extremely overpriced. A lot of gravel, not a many concrete pads, no fire pits (people just made a fire anywhere near there camper that they wanted). Again, I cannot stress enough that the staff were great people and fun with the kids. That is why I am giving this park a 5 and not a little lower score.
Very friendly and helpful people, the lake was extremely low. It looks like some of the marinas are hurting do to this. A burn ban was in effect at this time. The park was very clean, the trash disposal was a good bit away but not a pain to get to. The Wi-Fi worked ok, worked better at night. I would recommend this park to anyone.
Great park, friendly staff, worked with us to get us a good spot when available. Concrete Pads in nice shape and roomy. Cable a little fuzzy, but not too bad. Hookups easy to get to. You can't beat the access to the beach. We were on Spot 6 and I would bet we were 150' - 200 feet from the beach tops. Picnic area and grills are nice, but could use a little touch up. Place was clean, a little shower available to rinse off when coming from the beach. No one was loud, drunk, or obnoxious. Little store and restaurant down the road very near. Did the horseback riding on the beach that was recommended while we were down and my wife and little girl loved it. If we go back to Surfside, we definitely will be staying there again. This is an great place to stay. The place made it for a very nice weekend. The only reason I am giving it a 9 in lieu of a 10 is due to no pool or campground restrooms available.
