This was a great treat, so much so that we stayed an extra night! The sites are level and well treed. The pool and hot tub area was clean and well maintained. The last night we were here, they had a social at the rec center to thank all the Winter Texans. There was music, dancing, prizes, refreshments, all in all a great evening. The location is perfect to visit all of San Antonio's sites as the bus stops immediately outside their front gates. The Mexican restaurant across the street is awesome and serves authentic Mexican food. Everyone in the office was helpful and friendly. We used the information others had provided, as directions to the resort and they were perfect (we had no problems with railway crossings). While they are not within walking distance to the Wal-Mart, the bus service is great and we utilized it during our visit. Would definitely return to this resort.
The campground had just opened so they were working on getting all the facilities operational. Staff was very friendly and tried to accommodate as best they could. We enjoyed a nice hot tub and the sites were level and spacious. The WiFi was not operating and this was a problem for us as this is how we check on weather, routing, etc.
Really friendly staff and a great location. Although they officially didn't open until April 1, when we arrived on March 31 they made us feel very welcome, and didn't charge us for that day. We had our granddaughter with us and she loved the park and the nearby creek. They had firepits and hardwood was available for sale at a reasonable price. The laundry facilities are on the honour system. You use them and then tell the office how many loads and you are charged $1/load. Sites were level, well treed and spacious.
This is a relatively nice RV park with a few exceptions. The entrance & exit onto the highway is dangerous - there should be a turning lane. Good proximity to the beach. We were here during spring break and it provided great diversion. The sites are concrete and fairly level. They have two pools but neither of them were heated - cold cold cold. This was a huge disappointment. The laundry facilities are older and requires coins. If you don't have enough quarters, you have to drive over to the office and buy some from them. No change machine or detergent dispenser in the laundry room. The garbage bins were overflowing on several occasions and there is only one location (near the office) for the whole park. They drive around daily to pick up garbage however you can't leave the bag on the road because the birds attack it as soon as you put it out. We stayed here for a month and we could count the days that we had less than a 10 mph wind. It blows here all the time. And many times with that wind comes sand and salt. We had our awning out once for an hour or so. The park is close to Port Aransas for groceries (although there is only one grocery store - IGA) and many good restaurants (lots of seafood). There are several WI-FI servers to choose from in the park however the signal is hit and miss most of the time. We were constantly changing servers as the speed changed. People here were very friendly and the park was kept clean. During the winter season they have an inexpensive breakfast & lunch menu in the Rec hall on weekends and lots of the usual activities throughout the week.
Sites weren't level and were quite small. There was construction taking place as people were building houses within the park. This was a problem as they started early morning. Dogs were barking however that is the fault of the dog owners, not the park itself. Even though they advertise free Wi-Fi, we could only get it by sitting in our car at the main building. Our site was not very far away from the main building and when we asked why the Wi-Fi didn't work there, they suggested that what most people do is sit in their car, for privacy, by the main building. Obviously this is a known problem and was a huge irritant to us as that is how we keep in touch with family. It was a gated community and you had to scan a card when you wanted to enter. The security people manning the front gate were very pleasant and always greeted you warming when you arrived back.
Park was clean and very well maintained. People were friendly and instantly made you feel you were part of their community. We were close to the main buildings but not too close. The laundry facilities were awesome. They used a refillable card rather than coins which was really convenient. The pool and hot tub were nice temperatures and most of the time I was the only one there. A propane truck came through the park weekly and if you wanted a refill, you put a card in a visible location. You paid the same price for propane as in town - no delivery charges. The sites were gravel with a 2.5m X 5m concrete pad. As well, you could park a vehicle on the other side of the concrete pad so they were wide sites. The RV resort had great proximity to Superstition Mountains (for hiking, etc) as well as the I-60 (for restaurants, shopping, etc). Would definitely visit there again!
