We hadn't visited this campground in about 10-15 years, so we were pleasantly surprised by the new additions. We loved the bathhouses, and the nephews really enjoyed the lazy river. The staff was constantly busy keeping things in tip top shape. The only reason I didn't give them a 10 was that the bathrooms on the weekends could use a little more attention, and the wifi was finicky at best.
We spent a Wednesday thru Monday at this park to attend a family reunion. Half of our party stayed in RV's, the other half in the cabins they offer for rent. I am not impressed with this park at all. *The sites are not level.(4 inches to one side unlevel). *The power was constantly going off. *Sites were not attended to between departures and arrivals. *Flies were terrible. *We had numerous issues with the parks management in relation to the cabins rentals. *It was a very loud park. Much louder than the super campgrounds at Myrtle Beach. We won't be staying here again.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with my family, and we loved this park!!! The sites were flat, level, and large. The bath house was kept clean and neat, and the volunteer hosts were some of the friendliest we have come across. The kids could ride bikes around the paved loop, and the trails were very accessible. We will definitely be visiting this park often.
Spent a long weekend here with my brother & his family. We had a "buddy site" away from the creek which suited us well. The Shriners were in town for the weekend, but even with a fuller campground it stayed pretty quite. Bathhouses & pools were clean, they even had a band play on Saturday night up by the pool. My only negatives would be the place is a bit dated, and a lot of the sites are "buddy sites" (which can be good or bad). We will return again, as this campground is only an 1/2 from the house, and makes for a close weekend get way.
We celebrated Thanksgiving here with my family. This is a very clean campground with spacious sites. The facilities are a bit dated, but well cared for. Situated right on the lake with separate loops for RV & tent campers. Lots of trails to walk, friendly camp hosts, and neighborly campers. Some of the sites are far from being level, but otherwise a good place to kick back and enjoy some peace & quiet.
We stayed at Lakewood the week of June 16th in site 5414 which is in Block 1 South. My wife and I sat down after the trip to rate this campground, and our rating was between a 6 & 7 on a scale of 1-10. Positives. Lots to do, especially if you have kids (we don't), relatively clean bathhouses (considering the sheer numbers of people), a nice beach that is within easy walking distance from most of the campground, and a convenience location. Negatives. Sheer number of golf carts, lack of traffic signs at intersections, and park management's failure to enforce their published rules. We'll be back here the end of July for another visit, but in the future we'll only use this park for pre-Memorial Day and post-Labor Day visits.
