Wonderful for dry camping in the Everglades. Don't go during July or August due to bugs. "Waterfront site" only applies to tent campers. There is potable water and sewer dump station on site. Lots of wildlife visible January-February. Note: this campground is at least 40 miles from anywhere civilized (which is just the way we like it). A small store is near the camping area as is a restaurant and gift shop. Hurricanes wiped out the motel building. Rumor has it Cingular is the only cell phone that works in the camp.

Pros: Great winter weather. Friendly rangers with excellent ranger talks. Historic content preserved (Old railroad bridge). Nice Beach. Some spaces are right on the ocean! Boat launch ramp and place to park your small boat very close. Great fish restaurants nearby (Key Fisheries three times in a week). Fresh ocean breeze. Cool nights. Cons: Highway noise pretty severe in campground.

If you are looking for a quiet place to stay for a night or a week with full hookups but no pool--this is it. Owner on site and very helpful. We had a water leak inside our trailer when we hooked up and he was right there to help get it fixed on the spot! Easy access just a few miles off the interstate (far enough to be quiet and no truck noise). Old enough to have nice shade trees. Edisto river is nearby as well as the state park across the street (Colleton SP) and another state park, Givhans Ferry State Park, not far. Their WebSite is not interactive but has phone numbers, and if you call in advance they will have your site ready. If it is after dark he will generally have a lantern to guide you into your space. :) We will definitely be stopping here every January on our way to Florida for our usual two weeks of warmth.
