Passport America rate. We had stayed here before for an overnight passing thru spot so we knew what to expect. It hasn't changed. Section C is tight (we had to ask our neighbors if we could move their table so our slide would open). Could not level well front to back, had three inche levelers on the front and sides. All section C seemed to be on a hillside. OK for a cheap overnighter, but we question how well it would be for a membership park.
My wife and I have a small class C. We decided to stay here based on the review and the Web site. When we arrived we noticed garbage and leftover food all over a table outside the office, There was so much junk we had to walk around the patio to get to the office. On our way to the office an older lady came out of a trailer beside the office. We asked for a full hookup. She quoted $27 for a mostly grass pad. Then stated that it was a backin. I said ok, we will unhook the towed. She said in that case it would be an extra $3. I said no thanks and left. On our way out we looked at the sites. We are glad we passed this one by.
This campground is fine as a base camp for visiting the area, and there is a lot to see. We were told the campground is 5 years old, if it is they haven’t graded the roads since the first year. Our campsite was in the shade and was somewhat short, and not level (mostly grass and dirt with ruts from previous campers). The owners/managers were helpful, if somewhat short. The rules, of which there were many, seemed not to apply to the seasonal campers, most of which seemed to be a rather surly lot. The campground needs work on the overnight sites to be truly a competitive destination campground.
This campground was on an island. All sites were pull thru, however some would have been really tight for a large RV. It was peaceful. While sitting inside (to buggy outside for the PA boy) we saw a pretty doe meander by. Next morning I saw brother Raccoon checking out thievery prospects. This was an overnight spot so we didn't have an opportunity to visit the Fort. It is a little off the Intestate for an overnight stop, but we like seeing new places. I would stay again, hopefully for a longer period.
We stay in this park whenever we visit family. Most of the time we stay for a week. The owners are great. They are working in the campground from dawn to dusk and it shows. There is the issue of sound from the trains and the freeway, but after awhile it blends into the background. The lake is small, but fun. I have taken fish out of more often than not. This is a good campground for an overnight or extended stay.
This campground was under new ownership when we visited. The new owners have improved the campground, but further improvements are needed. The roads were extremely dusty, our site was not very level, but it was shady. This campground offers free WiFi but you must go to the office to use it. It was extremely slow. The campground is gate controlled and you need a card to enter. The card is $10.00 refundable.
