Our site (#54) was extremely level, but some were very rutted and sloped. Both the interior roads and the road leading to the park are gravel and very dusty. The office lady was very friendly. However, the reasons for the lower rating were: 1) the dump station is very poorly located. We had to back up and pull forward several times to maneuver our 37 foot MH close enough to use. Anything longer would have been out of luck and 2) they charge $5 each to launch our own kayaks onto their lake! A first for us in 8 years of full-timing.
The nightly rate reflects the PA price. We had a beautiful shaded site, so level that we did not have to even put our jacks down! The small creek directly behind us sounded great as it flowed over large rocks. We had a fire ring and the owner provided a generous amount of firewood for a reasonable price. Our site had both water and 50 amp electric. The water delivery system is a little unusual but the taste and pressure were fine. There is no sewer or dump station, but we were told there was a local pump-out service ($) if we wanted to stay for an extended time. The owners were very nice and I think the low tolerance for alcohol has more to do with behavior than consumption. This will be our 1st choice for a campground if we return to the area.
Price reflects PA rate. Good overnight spot. Less than 2 miles from I-69 exit on service road, therefore road noise. Good signs directing you to campground. Owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Mostly seasonal sites, but 2 rows of pull-throughs and lots of back-in sites. Our pull-through was not long enough to leave car attached to 37 ft MH. Would definitely stay here again when in area.
My review of this campground is mixed. The sites are spacious, very private and have paved pads. They are also extremely close to Nashville. Unfortunately many sites are not level. I called and talked with the rangers prior to making a reservation to ask if site #5 was level. I was told that it had a sloping drive then leveled off and would be fine. If we were a short RV it would be great, but we are in a 37 ft. motorhome and our rear wheels are 4 inches off the ground! NOT GOOD! I cannot imagine if we were in a 45 ft. unit! There are sites that are more level but be careful. Unless you can visit and see for yourself, I do not know how you can be certain if any site you reserve is level since the rangers do not seen to have a clue.
Nice park. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. The park layout reflects that the owners are experienced RVers. Sites are level grass and gravel and trees are trimmed enough to not scrap even tall RVs. Sites range from very shady to wide open and most are pull through. Fire rings and picnic tables at most sites. The owner will deliver if you have a site that is missing either. WiFi with good connection, cable TV and firewood, all at no extra charge. Several beautiful and interesting sights are within an easy day-trip distance. We especially liked Beauford, SC. This would be a great location for a small rally or group meeting. There is a covered shelter with tables and chairs. The park is for self-contained units only as there are no bath or shower facilities, but there are two laundry rooms. As you can tell from the review, we really like this park. This was our 3rd visit and we plan to be back!
This is a small state park with concrete interior roads and grass and gravel, fairly level sites. The Dyas Unit has 45 camping sites (31 with electrical hookups with 20/30/50 amp), clean rest rooms and showers plus a dump station. There are water stations in the park but not at sites. The park has two parts. The campground is in the Dyas unit at 21466 429th Avenue Bellevue, IA 52031. DO NOT try to take a large RV to the Nelson unit because the access road is steep with limited turn-arounds. The Nelson unit does have a nature center and butterfly garden. There are 3 overlooks of the Mississippi River, lock and dam #12, and the town of Bellevue with the one in the Nelson unit being an especially good photo op. Bellevue, although small, has several good restaurants; our favorites are the Market Café for lunch and Grandpa’s Parlor for ice cream treats and breakfast! $16 is for electric sites; $11 for non-electric.
The park location is convenient to SPI activities and the camping fees include access to a nice fishing jetty and beach. However the park is not being well maintained and is showing its age. Many utility posts have broken or damaged boxes that have not been replaced or repaired. Previous campers have left unwanted items like rugs and trash which have not been removed. Site size varies greatly. Some are very narrow. One camper near us had their slide several inches under their neighbors awning. Our pull through had two narrow strips of pavement for parking, unfortunately our duels were wider than the strips. No way to fit without part of a tire hanging off. Be aware that check-in is about a block or two before entrance to park. Watch signs carefully. The people at check-in were not rude but were also not helpful. They neglected to give us several very important pieces of info, like the gate code for re-entering the park after dark (!) and the fact that there was an alternative entrance if the 13-foot height clearance was too short for your RV! Height clearance was not posted, we had to ask the gate attendant. Camping locations on the island are very limited. If we returned to area we would look for something on the mainland and do day trips to SPI.
This is a fairly new campground whose owners are trying to do things right. They were friendly and helpful. The sites are very level concrete pads with patios and picnic tables. There is also a shelter with tables and a grill and a fishing lake. The facilities were extremely clean plus the laundry room had a iron and board for guest use. Overall a very nice park only a couple of miles south of I-10.
The price listed reflects the “Golden Age Card” discount for COE campgrounds. The campground was very nice and would probably have gotten a higher rating if not for the entry road. The park is about 8 miles from I-40 on a narrow winding 2-lane road. That was not so bad but just after crossing the Center Hill Lake Dam you turn down a VERY steep hill with a right angle turn at the bottom. Be warned you need to be in 1st gear for this hill! The campground is at the foot of the dam and the surrounding cliffs and woods are lovely. Sites 56 & 57 are our favorites.
The nightly cost reflects PA rate. I'm not sure where a prior reviewer stayed because the current owners have been here 19 years and keep the park very neat and clean including the bath house. They remodeled the office, meeting room and laundry area last summer. The sites are mostly level, sand and grass, pull-throughs. This is not a resort or destination park and do not advertise themselves as such but is great for an overnight stay or for a few days while visiting the area. They are very close to I-75 and one exit away from I-10. The owners are very nice and helpful.
Nice quiet park with mostly level sites and some shade available. Most of the 50 amp sites were not in the shade, but campground is in process of adding 50 amps to most of the sites. Location is convenient for visiting Hannibal. Gates are not unlocked until 7am so if you are planning an early start or want to go out for breakfast be sure to make arrangements with the office. We thought the park was a little over priced for the area.
This location is very handy for visiting the Quad City area. Sites are relatively level and mostly shaded. The campground was very quiet at night. Our only complaint was that the WiFi was rather weak and spotty. This is a Passport America park and is a bargain at $10 a night.
The last reviewer is right. This park has no facilities or activities, but if you want a quiet, safe place to stay while sightseeing in Birmingham or want to be near the medical facilities there, this is a good place. There are full hookups with 50 amp service and 8 large, level, concrete pads that are about 20 by 80 feet. (there are additional grass and gravel sites) At $15 per night it is a bargain!
This RV park is located on the grounds of an historic old cavalry fort which is now run by a private homeowner’s association. There are wonderful old stone houses, a museum, spring fed pool, 9-hole golf course, gym, nature trails, a bird sanctuary, etc. The sites are gravel (some grass) and level. This is not a resort type park, but there are lots of activities and the people are extremely nice. There was a park-wide bar-b-que and pot luck while we were there. This is a PA park so the rates are very reasonable. We will camp there again.
This is an urban park that is convenient for seeing the San Diego sites. The campsites are level concrete pads with patio, picnic table and grills on a post. The laundry and bath/shower facilities were modern and very clean. There is an exercise room in the clubhouse as well as an outdoor pool. The staff were friendly and helpful. The CG is tucked in between I-5 and an AMTRAK line. We were here in the fall and slept with the windows closed so the noise did not interfere with sleep but the noise is constant. The WiFi was not available at our site for 3 of the 7 days we were here which is part of the reason for the 7 rating.
This is a county park with large grassy sites. The park is fenced and gated and feels very secure. Currently 12 of the 54 sites are full hook-ups, but they are expanding to add more. Restrooms are basic but clean and showers are pay. There is a small lake and playground areas for those camping with children. Park hosts and staff are very friendly and helpful. We would stay again.
This campground has no sewer and no dump station as well as no showers. When asked where the nearest dump site could be found, we were told that they had no idea! The 50 amp service turned out to actually provide about 10 amps. After trying 3 hookups without being able to keep the power on due to the low amps, we did receive a refund. The bathrooms were not clean, there was very little hade and the entire park had a run down feel. The park we saw did not look like the one on there web site. I would definitely not stay here and would not recommend it to others either.
