I too, after reading the comments of the other campers was hesitant to try Shenandoah Hills Campground. We went over the 4th of July holiday. The staff workers were pleasant and the shady space we had was terrific. The pool was clean and the kids liked the campground. It is a relatively small place but nonetheless it worked out just fine. They had activities, all of which you had to pay for, which was kind of a downer. We did experience for the first time a camper getting in trouble and getting asked to leave one night around midnight. Not sure why, they didn't seem to be a bother to us. Anyway, it was a nice escape.
We enjoyed our stay at Rockahock Campgrounds. They had entertainment for both the adults and kids. The pool was clean, but not open very late. The kids rode their bikes all over the grounds which they seemed to enjoy. There is a restaurant and a bar with music for adult entertainment. The camp store was small and didn't have much in it. Like others have said, the permanant residents do get loud and ride their golf carts all over. Way to fast if you ask me. But overall we had fun and would go back.
