This campground is on the bay side of Bethany. It is about 2 miles to Bethany Beach. This campground has no facilities but a really good grocery and hardware store is nearby. There is also a small RV store nearby. The sunsets over the bay are spectacular!

This was my second time at Big Oaks. It is located between Rehoboth Beach and Lewes. One of the seasonal owners told me about a bike trail that is part of the Henelopen State Park. Some of the trail is shaded. This park also has its own bus stop. The bus takes you to the bus station where you can take another bus to Rehoboth Beach. Big Oaks requires a 5-day minimum stay paid in cash when you arrive (minus the down payment). This family-owned campground was very helpful in helping me find a time I could visit.

This family-owned campground caters mostly to full-timers and year-round residents. I called ahead to make a reservation 2 hours before I was to arrive. One of the owners met me at the office and remembered me by name. I had walked around before registering so I new exactly which site I wanted. I selected a site that backs into a stream (Cedar Creek). It is close to US 11 but the shady spot was so beautiful! When you first arrive it looks like a ghost town but don't let that scare you away.
