My husband surprised me with an overnight get-away to beautiful Lake Superior. We were fortunate to have gotten the last available campsite (they don't take reservations). The campground was clean, the neighbors were friendly, and we enjoyed a very relaxing stay. Our site was level, grassy, with mature trees. We would go back again.
My husband and I stayed here the weekend of August 23-25, 2013 with our 6 year old grandson. This park is one of our favorite go-to campgrounds. It is clean and quiet, with hiking galore. The campsites are heavily wooded and private, and most are quite large. We enjoyed hiking along some of the easier trails along the Mississippi backwater. The Nature Center is interesting and gives grandma and grandpa quality learning time with a little one. We especially appreciated that ice and firewood are available right in the campground, so we didn't have to pull up stakes and drive to the Ranger Station. We highly recommend this campground.
We camped here from Friday, August 30, 2013 to Monday, September 2, 2013 with our son and his family. The campground is quiet, clean, and peaceful. We enjoyed swimming in the clean, in-ground pool (although if it were covered at night with a solar cover, that would have helped the VERY cold temp a lot), mini-golf, endless hiking opportunities, and a campfire each night. The scenery can't be beat! Camp store has limited supplies, swimming accessories, ice, firewood, souvenirs, and lots of t-shirts for sale. There is a small deli attached for an 'on-the-go' meal. We enjoyed this camping experience very much. We camped here in a motorhome and our son has a 5th Wheel. Note: The $16 per night camping fee was military discount.
My husband, granddaughter, and I camped here due to attending a 50th Wedding Anniversary gathering in the area, and because there were no other camping options available. The campground is clean, they do have many activities for the youngsters, and the heated pool was very nice. The security people buzzing around in their golf carts were friendly and helpful, and needed, given the campers were basically on top of each other. The campground is hugely jam-packed tight, quite uncomfortable for those of us used to camping to get-away from it all. No getting away here. We were at campsite #1, which is right off the County Road, and next to the main driveway, so the traffic noise was constant. Combined with the people noise, I would have preferred to stay home. In the future, unless camping here was necessary, as it was this June, I wouldn't go back.
My husband and I camped here and it is an awesome, excellent, campground! How did we not know about this earlier?! The sites are all large, heavily wooded, private, and beautiful. The campground is quiet and peaceful. Our son and family joined us with their tent and there was plenty of room for all. There is a newer shower/restroom building, a small playground for the little ones, and the walk around the campground is enjoyable. This is our new go-to destination for a weekend get-away. I highly recommend this campground!
My husband, grandchildren, and I camped here to attend a family birthday party in Appleton, and no other camping options were available. The campground was clean enough, and the campsites were level and quite nice, lots of mature trees. However, the seasonal units, for the most part, were very run-down and depressing to look at. There were two canals running through the campground, both of which were green and scummy, as was the swimming pond. We did not find the other campers, nor the owner, to be particularly friendly. I would not recommend this campground and do not plan to return.
