What a nice surprise. The road in is narrow and has several curves but not too many for a big rig. Nice large grass spot with full hook ups and shade depending on the spot you choose. I did an overnighter but I would have liked to stay longer. No speed bumps. I missed the first and second turns my GPS wanted me to take and took the 3 turn it recommended was the better one. I will stay here again.
Not your typical KOA. One block from the Interstate. Need I say more. Great staff. Wi-Fi so so. Gravel/grass sites. Dusty. Fairly close to KC. There is another RV park nearby I will consider if I'm in the area again.
I have used this park several times. It seems there was more train noise this stay. Close to the city. It appears the pull through sites are reserved for overnighters. Grass and concrete level sites. I'll return.
This is one nice campground. It would be a 10 if there was sewer. Large shaded sites near the lake. Utilities are a bit far so hose and electric extensions might be needed. A few useless speed bumps at the gate. I'll use this spot again.
This is one of my favorite stops. The rate I show includes a $10 KOA discount. It is near the Interstate but the noise isn't bothersome and the train isn't a big deal. I have stayed here many times and they now have cable. Most all spots are pull through with a lot of shade, too. No speed bumps and breakfast in the mess hall. I will return. Oh yeah, the Arkansas portion of I-55 is still in poor condition despite all the years they have been working on it and still are.
One of my favorite spots. Be careful as some of the utilities are very far from your site and you need an extension, which I carry. Shade trees, lake, swamp, and bike friendly. I'll be back. Nice staff.
Location, location, location. That is about the only positive I have. It is close to the Natchez Trace and at the end of my traveling day heading north. It is all pavement, almost level, no table, local cable, no shade, side to side spaces, too many speed bumps but friendly staff in the office. Okay for an overnighter. I can imagine the heat in the summer with all that asphalt. I'll reroute next time.
This is my kind of CG but I know some don't like the dirt/grass sites. Dirt/gravel interior roads and no speed bumps. My site #6 was really nice and shaded but also very tight. Some sites are full sun. Cabins, pool, rec room, etc. Friendly staff too. I will return.
The only positive thing about this CG is it's the only one in the area, and if you need a spot this is it. It looks like any construction ideas were started but stopped half way through several years ago. Semi shaded site with full hook ups. Good Sam discount wasn't applied as the computer wouldn't accept it. Next time I'll keep driving.
This is a very nice park. No sewer but that's normal for a Corps park. A few sites needed extension cords and hoses. I just can't figure out why they would install the hook ups so far away. A lot of shade and level sites. The really nice sites get reserved fast.
This is another park I return to. About the only one in the area and you have KOA prices. No cable but OK over the air. Nice and shady, level gravel/dirt and no speed bumps. Easy on and off but entry is a bit tight. Large gas station across the interstate. Some traffic and train noise but that doesn't bother me. I will return.
I like this park. It is shady and quiet. Nice concrete level sites away from the full timers. I use this park as an over nighter and will return again. A few miles off the Interstate but worth it. Picnic tables would be nice also.
Very nice, spotless campground. Looks good for boaters; level, all gravel sites. No speed bumps. Super clean laundry and mostly friendly staff. Nicely landscaped pool and grounds. I have a few concerns. When I arrived, the front my RV was covered with bugs. I mean covered. Management did see this, and I think it would have been nice for them to suggest if I wanted to wash them off it would be okay. I did ask permission and given a cool reply, "just the front". The bugs were coming off even if I had to do it somewhere else. There are several security cameras. I felt like I was being watched although none were pointed at my RV, I don't think. I might stay again.
Nice park about 30 minutes from the French Quarter. Easy in and easy out. Concrete level sites with grass. Several long term RVs but that wasn't a problem. No speed bumps and far enough off the highway to limit noise. There is a nice "pull through" style gas station on the way out. Mostly an overnighter park and I would return.
Nice CG for over night. All grass level sites with gravel roads and no speed bumps. Good WiFi and very nice campers. Far enough off the highway so low noise. Plenty of long term RV's but that was not a problem. When checking in I asked about any discounts and was told only active military. I asked about prior military and was told no. The next morning the lady came to me with 2 bucks, 10%, for a prior military discount. She said she had checked on it and came through. How often does that happen? I would return here.
The $20 rate reflects a October special. My large treed grassy site was near the back which I enjoyed. Cable and Wi-Fi worked great. Very quiet and the river borders the property. This CG is off the highway about 10 miles and would be a good choice for any camp out. Laundry has several machines and is also very clean and reasonable. There aren't any speed bumps and I would return here.
If you could rate a CG a zero it would fit this place. Travel Life rating 7/8*/8. Yeah, right. The RV site I was assigned to (one of maybe 2)was just about in this guy's side yard next to his mobile home, just a few steps from the screened patio. He is very nice person and I guess he is used to RVs next to him, but I'm not comfortable camping in someones back (side) yard while they watch TV in the patio. The CG is about 99.9% permanent RVs. It is clean and quiet. My full hook up site with sewer, that was extra, wasn't level enough get my unit totally level so trying to dump was in vain. I was escorted to the site which you had to go the wrong way down a one way road to get to. You have to go the wrong way again to get out. I will never return to the CG
This is a very nice CG with many trees, clean and paved roads without speed bumps. Very good rate and close to Kennedy Space Center. WiFi was weak but over the air TV was fine. I would stay here again.
The sites here are very nice, concrete pads and not cramped. Good WiFi and cable TV. Several long term RV's at the rear but not a problem. Restrooms are beginning to show use, but not bad. No speed bumps. Nice shopping spot not far with just about everything. There is road noise and a few loud USAF jets in the day time. I would return here.
My stay at this park was an overnighter so I chose water and electric only. Nice level grass site, some evening shade and the WiFi worked well. The bath house nearest to me was spotless and very nice. If speed bumps are your thing this is the place. Some are so close you are not over one and your wheels are up against the next one.
This is a very nice state park and the rates are good for this area. Some sites are a little narrow for backing into. The staff seemed to know the larger sites for large rigs and very helpful. The store has ice cream, etc; and there were no speed bumps. One thing I didn't like was they charge you for Reserve America even if you didn't make a reservation through them. In my opinion, Reserve America data is often not very accurate and cannot be trusted. Why should they charge the fee when the service wasn't used? State Parks wake up. There has to be another way. My other dislike (not the park's fault) is the 11% in taxes they collect. Even with the extra charges, it was a good deal and I would return to this park, but will probably avoid SC in the future because of the taxes.
I don't rate campgrounds a 10 very often but this one deserves it. There is road noise but the Metro transportation to and from the park makes up for that. Staff is great and always willing to answer questions. No stupid speed bumps. Showers were spotless. I stayed here 12 days and truly enjoyed my stay at the park and my visit to DC.
First the good point. The front portion of my skinny site was level. I was surprised since this place is on a hill. The park is rated by Travel Life/Good Sam as a 9.5/9*/9. If this were true it probably would have been worth the $50 (with discount). This is a $25 CG. The road to the CG is a one lane about 1/2 mile. Big rigs beware. No satellite, cable TV or antenna TV. WiFi is hit and miss. Satellite radio was so so. Hook ups are on the wrong side and the water spigot is just a inch from the electric plug. The picnic tables sit on the slope so they are useless. Why bother having them? Trash truck came at 7:10PM. I will NOT return to this CG. Did I mention 2 useless speed bumps?
I really enjoyed this CG as it is close to a few attractions I wanted to see. It is more of a state park setting with many trees, grass and gravel. I was in a level pull through. Sites are a bit close but the one I was in was adequate. Since I was touring during the daytime I cannot comment on daytime activities. I found the others posts interesting. The staff was very friendly, however upon my arrival the desk clerk insisted my RV was a 50 amp. I assured her it wasn't but she needed to concur with another to see if I could be assigned a site with 30 amps. If I say my RV is a 30 amp then that should be the end of that. There are no speed bumps but the pot holes take care of racing through this park. A little TLC to the roads would give the CG a better rating and lay off assessing RV AMP's from afar. I didn't mind the $2.75 charge per day for cable TV, but they have limited channels and one I like wasn't available.
Nice CG with a nice staff. Large clean pool and laundry. The train mentioned wasn't bad and if it ran at night I didn't notice it. If you are north bound and your GPS tells you to exit off ramp 13, don't do it: take ramp 17 or you will need to make a U turn. Easy for some rigs but not enough room for mine. Good WiFi but the cable TV didn't have some channels I would have liked. No speed bumps. I would stay here again.
A very nice quiet CG. Very polite staff and an escort to the site. Some shade and well kept grass. Paved roads and regular sized sites. No speed bumps, either. Very good Wi-Fi but no cable. GPS is off about 2 miles.
Nice clean well maintained CG with a lot of shade under pine trees. A little road noise but not bad. Mostly pull through sites with adequate room. WiFi was great. Cable TV had some fuzzy stations. No speed bumps and paved and gravel/dirt roads and camp sites. I would like to see them add just a tad bit more gravel throughout the park. It got a little messy in the rain. The CG map and the street signs don't match up too well. I'll blame the city for that. I plan to return here.
This CG is in two sections. The off beach section has nice sites. Easy to get into, clean and a nice size. Two things I didn't care for. One is the roads are dirt, something to expect in a state CG. However there are many pot holes, mostly at the beach site. How hard is it to fill in pot holes on a dirt road? The second is they use Reserve America for reservations. Reserve America has never provide me with accurate data. For example: the site to my left showed to be vacant but was occupied and the site across was vacant but listed as occupied. One time in Texas they showed the CG full on a Thursday. I didn't believe it and went anyway. It was 15% occupied. And they charge us for this too! The beach site is not in my rating but I biked to it to take a look. It is, well, very cozy camping. I have a 34 footer and I'm not sure there are too many spots it would fit into. My slide outs would probably touch the campers next to me. I would use the treed sites again but would say away from the beach area unless I was tent camping.
I'm giving this park a thumbs up if you do not elect for water and electric only. Traveling by myself, I do not always need to dump everyday so I chose to save a little and take a site without a sewer. These sites are close to the road in an all grass, no shade setting. My jacks sank in the turf. No table. The electric, 30 amp, did not have a breaker switch. The bathroom was not really dirty but in a dated condition that needs attention and the doors do not close properly. Cash or check. The rate reflects my discount. Nice staff and firm with the rules. One very useless speed bump about 50 feet from the office. The other sites looked very nice with shade and tables. I certainly got what I paid for, but if I returned I would pay the extra for a nice site.
Nice clean park with much grass and gravel roads. I will rate this park as an over nighter. Many full timers but they are mostly apart from the over night spaces. Cash or check only. Easy in and out with no speed bumps. Quiet.
Nice shaded park with a small lake. I stayed only one night so I cannot comment too much. The pull through site I was assigned to had the hook-ups all the way to the rear. Probably no problem for a trailer, however I was towing a car with a motorhome. The park loaned me an extension for the TV cable. The sewer hose also needed an extension which I chose not to bother with. No speed bumps, however the entry/exit road is very narrow and two rigs going in and out might be tricky. The rate included my KOA discount.
There aren't many parks in this area to choose from. It's great for over night. Very clean and well kept. Friendly crew. Paved roads and level sites with nice grass. The highway is very close with easy in and out. No speed bumps. I would stay here again.
This is a very nice park located on a hill with very level sites. Each site is grass with gravel roads. There are two speed bumps but not so big to be a bother. The crew is excellent and took me around in a golf cart to see available sites. No cable TV but we received about 12 OTA (over the air) channels. Has a nice pool and spa. The restrooms were clean the first day but could have used some attention the second morning. They are on the small side but adequate. A few shade sites but they cost more.
This a new park with shade trees growing and cable ready but not working yet. Excellent Wi-Fi. No speed bumps, level concrete pads with grass, concrete drive and very clean. Very nice place and worth the few miles you need to get here.
Very reasonable, cash or check only. Nice concrete pads with gravel and grass. About 25% full timers in the full time area. You do go down a few country roads but easy on and off. Excellent over nighter and I guess the river is close but I didn't try to walk to it. I would use this park again. No speed bumps.
This park in next to the Interstate and you do get the traffic noise. There are a few speed bumps. My jacks were not working and I requested a level site. The one assigned wasn't as level as a few others that I believe were available. The exit isn't clearly marked probably due to road construction. A good over night stop, but I'll look for another in this area.
This is a very nice KOA with level sites and no speed bumps. Gravel/grass shaded sites. Easy on and off access. Breakfast and burgers are offered for a fair price. We have used this KOA before for a one nighter. They are fairly close to Memphis attractions without the big city noise. As in the past they give you a 10% coupon for your next visit.
Monthly space rent is for 28 days, not month to month. I found this odd. 3 huge speed bumps and tree branches still need trimming. Some concrete pads and some grass. Shower room wasn't heated very well. Dryers were not working due to a power problem conflicting with the Wi-Fi antenna. Space rent is about normal for the area. The shore isn't far. Mosquitoes were bad and the county does spray. Boat parking available. Great grounds crew. Clean rec room.
We like this park and return often. It is full for January & February but sometimes a cancellation comes in. Folks from all over the US and Canada mostly in the winter months. Sites have grass and a table. Not pristine but the rates reflect that. Easy walk to the beach and jetty. A one mile bike/hike paved path surrounds the gated grounds. RV repair and wash/wax available from vendors. Electric is charged for one week plus.
We really liked this campground however I didn't rate it a "10" because it isn't pristine. You are one block from the ocean, a few blocks from the Jetty and near weekender homes. If you like to watch ships come and go this is a good spot. The sites have some grass and sand. They are fairly close to other RV's with about 75% full timers. There is one washer/dryer, and friendly management. The recent rains should help green up the landscape. Don't forget the Off bug spray. I would stay here again.
A nice shady park somewhat near San Francisco. It had level sites. We were using the ferry from Vallejo to San Franciso which is about 25 miles from the park. Since parking in San Francisco is expensive, it's a good deal if you use the ferry, and you can use the public transportation system while there.
This is a very clean park, well managed, all gravel and concrete and all sites are level. The entry sign could be larger and/or more obvious to the entrance. There is a nice big Flea Market you can walk to on weekends. It has a grass pet walk near by. My only gripe is our cat was not allowed outside.
Over all a very nice park. Fairly close to the ferry to San Francisco. Nice and cool for August. The public road to the entrance is in need of repair and the KOA road has three speed bumps that will rearrange your cabinets if you're not careful. Our site was next to the water system and the pump came on and off often. In my opinion the site should have had a reduced rate because of the pump noise.
