Showers and bathrooms were filthy. Urine and water running on floor, could not turn off the water in shower, no locks on stalls or shower doors, no paper, room with washing machines had several water leaks and floor was covered with water. All this was reported by several different people and 3 days later nothing had changed. Be careful of snakes, we saw two big ones. We have camped here 3 times and each time the conditions are worse than the time before.
We were there over the July 4th weekend. It was packed. Everyone was friendly, and we had a great time. For the number of people using the restrooms, they were kept fairly clean. It is a small park and we walked it several times. It is very easy to find, just off I-20. We will be going back.
This is the best campground we have ever camped in. We enjoyed watching the tug boats and barges go up and down the river. The restrooms and showers were very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only problem we found was the cell phone reception was very bad. But there are places in the park you can get fair reception. I found bars in open places around the river, and around the restrooms in zone 1. While at Pickensville be sure to eat at "Down Yonder". The gate keeper can give you directions. Had great food at very reasonable prices.
