Paved sites and road. Picnic tables and fire pit. First Come First Served (FCFS) and reservations are accepted. Most sites are treed. View sites are available. Excellent access to walking path (Trail of Blue Ice) and salmon viewing area. Located adjacent to a creek. Quite. Beautiful campground. The weather is typically not great (wind and rain). Check the Whittier or Portage Lake weather forecast. No dump station. Big rig friendly.
Basically a gravel parking lot. Sites are level. They are close, but not too tight. Picnic tables. Laundry. Location is very close to the harbor. Relatively quite location except for the road bikers with kids who came in late and let their kids scream, yell and play very late at night. Some sites allow campfires. Great views when the fog lifts. Easy access to boats and stores for tours. Easy walking distance to ocean. Staff were friendly enough and provided information on things to do in the area. WiFi worked okay, but went down a couple times.
Treed campsite beside pond and creek. Rainbow and grayling fishing in pond. Pond had duck chicks during our stay. River otters also call this pond home. Big rigs can fit into sites. Big rigs should stay on the main road or scout before committing to some of the more narrow roads. Deep pots holes are present; however, they can be navigated if you go slow. Road and sites are gravel / dirt. Some road noise was present but not significant. Bugs were present but not horrible. No facilities; however, there is a full service campground near by that operates the Squirrel Creek Campground. Campground did fill on the weekend (later in the evening).
