Tawas State Park is wonderful. Lots to do in the area. Swim in the bay or Lake Huron. Ride your bike to town or just the lighthouse. We love going to the Ben Franklin store in town. Had a big pull through site. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Nice campground. We had site 172 facing the road but found it to be quit nice. Nice amount of woods between us and road. Very relaxing. Some of the interior road sites seems a little cramped to me. To get to the beach you have to cross the busy road or you can go over the cross walk. There is a nice store that serves Ice Cream with-in walking distance of park. The stars were awesome at this park at night.
We stayed in the Dunes side of the campground, site 11. It was an awesome site. It was a nice campground with a good swimming beach. My only complaint was the shower house had spiders. Other than that, it was a great place to visit.
This was a nice campground. Nothing fancy but a good place to stay while exploring the mountains. The sites on the water were nice but far from the restroom. A good place to eat in Ontonagon is Syls Cafe/Bakery: homemade pastries. My only complaint would be the set up of the fire pits, all were on the back of the sites, not much privacy.
This is a big campground. Our site was listed as level, but was far from it. We had site 52, that whole section sloped, a lot. Bathrooms were old on our side and the water would shut off unless you kept tapping the button. The section by the office had a new restroom. Not a bad campground, but could use better listing of sites attributes.
Nice woodsy park w/heated swimming pool. Close to all attractions. We had a back in site but most were pull-thur's. Only complaint was the water pressure in the showers, it was not good at all. Overall a nice place to stay w/kids.
Was a nice park. Pool was warm and refreshing. Site was nice sized (the one we had was). Wash rooms were very clean. Free Putt Putt was a plus. Down falls were, Sea Weed by raft in water (son was afraid to go out to it), tons a golf carts and lot of bugs. Trees behind our site had berries on them, and now our camper is covered in berry juice. Other then that it is a nice park, not a campground. No a camping feel at all.
Great campground. Kind of rustic feeling. Roads were not paved. Bathrooms were far from campsites. Lake and swimming area across the road from campground. However, most sites were big and private. Trails were fun and well marked. You can walk to it from your campsite and either go on a short or long hike. Very quite, family friendly campground. We will be making this a place to go every fall.
Had site right on water with views of UP. You could walk from your site through a trail and site on the beach. Nice. Tons of bike and walking trails. Close to town and UP. Only complaint is showers. You had to keep pushing the button on the wall for the shower water to keep running. Not a problem, they did get you clean, just annoying. The sites along the beach were all sand, so be prepared with a broom.
Loved this park. Had site 119. Nice walk to the beach through a trail. The lake was beautiful and clean. My only complaint was the bathroom was not new like and up-dated like most state parks. However, it was clean and the shower pressure was great. Lots of off road trails in the area. We drove through the South side campground and liked this one much better. It was quit and not as crowded feeling.
Very nice little campground. The campground owner/host were exceptional. Very friendly and nice. Some sites were a little tight and un-level but we managed with our 26 ft camper. Kids had a blast at the swimming pond with the rafts provided. Pool was clean and warm. Great place to go antiquing if you like that sort of thing. We found it fun. Store's and towns pretty close by. We would return.
Had a great time at this campground. Nice swimming beach. It is not large but did the trick. Boy had a great time fishing from the dock and shore. Campground was quiet and very clean. Only complaint is there is not much to do in the area. Closet town is about 11 miles away. Nice place to go and sit back and do nothing.
When we arrived it looked like a great Park. Tons of bike and walking trials. We were so excited about our stay. That night (6/12) the area got 10+ inches of rain. Our site was one of the lower ones by Hamilin lake (328), it was flooded. Stay away and book on higher ground. The lake started to flood our site and park officials had campers leave park due to flooding. The staff was very helpful and friendly with all everything going on. We were refunded our $$$. We hope in a drier time to return to this park and enjoy all it has to offer.
Very nice place to stay. Not really a camping atmosphere. More like being in an very nice Modular home resort. However, it is a great place to visit, and stay for a few days. The sites they do have for renters are fairly large with a fire pit and table. Very friendly people throughout the park. The beach and pool were very nice and clean, the lake did have a little seaweed. Me and my boys will be making this place a yearly trip, felt very safe.
Very nice family friendly campground. Lots of walking and bike trails. Walk to Lake Huron over highway overpass was very nice. Beach was very rocky, so swim shoes are a must. It was only rocky about 25 to 30 feet out, then nice sand with a few big rocks. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and there was never really a wait for the shower. Our site was along the highway, but it was not to noisy at night. The campground is very shaded with lots of trees. Nice trip.
This was an awesome campground. Very hilly and quiet. Like being up north without the drive. The beach is a walk from the campground but worth it, very clean and sandy. Great fishing dock and store. Had a wonderful time.
