I've camped here twice in a tent. What I love about this campground is the spectacular scenery and the campground's location. I camped at B26 for a week in August of 2008 and at T70 for a week in August of 2009. There is an upper and a lower creek, both of which are nice. The bathhouse near B26 needs to be renovated. The bathhouse near T70 is nicer but could also use some renovating. There is a large empty field where it would be nice to have some playground equipment. The campground itself is bare, but like I said, the location and scenery are worth the stay.

My husband, five year old, and I stayed on site 74 for 6 nights and loved it. We could see the ocean from our site and enjoyed the very short walk to and from the beach. We saw dolphins every morning. The water is shallow for a long ways out, so the waves are pathetic, which is perfect for little kids. When the tide goes out, there are great tidal pools. Found tons of shells, sharks teeth, and sandollars. You can't walk on the beach at night with a light because of turtle nests. Our site had lots of room and shade. The camp store was very well stocked with the necessities and much more. The playground had no shade, so we didn't spend much time there at all. The bathhouse we used was also used by beachgoers, so it could have used an extra cleaning during the day, but overall, it was okay. For a small fee, we climbed the nearby lighthouse and also took part in the Nature Center's fish printing activity. We saw a couple alligators at the lighthouse visitor's center. We didn't see any raccoons at our campsite, but we kept our food in the car. We did see quite a few deer. We visited the Old Sheldon Church ruins, which is a great place to go if you like historical places and/or like to take pictures, and visited Beaufort's waterfront, which was also picturesque, on our way back to the park. We had awesome sandwiches at Plum's and indulged afterwards at The Chocolate Tree. We will definitely be back!
