When we book a huge, beachfront campground we generally know to expect crowds, smaller sites and few trees. This campground exceeded our expectations in all areas. Despite the enormity of the park, the staff we encountered were pleasant and friendly. The ocean sites, while not large, were comfortable. The lake sites were larger and had wonderful tree cover for those who don't mind the slightly longer walk to the beach. The permanent shelters at each site were especially appreciated, as the winds are often too strong for awnings. Baths appeared recently updated and were particularly clean. Our four children (ages 3 to 8) enjoyed the many activities and games.
I agree with all the previously posted positive comments. Most aspects of this campground are spectacular. The "8" rating in lieu of a "10" was due to the wi-fi. Regardless of where we were in the campground over the course of one week, it was at its best excruciatingly slow and at other times simply not functional. The local staff, as super nice and helpful as they were on other issues, could only give me an 800 number to call. After almost 30 minutes on hold I choose to activate my Verizon air card for a hefty extra expense. For the relatively high nightly rates that are charged, I expected (and had been told) there was a properly functioning wifi system. If they can get the wifi system working properly I would echo the other "10" ratings.
