A good central location for the wine country. Bathroom is totally inadequate for the size of the campground. Men's room had one toilet and one functioning urinal. (There were two urinals, with one out of service and no work done on it in the three days we were there that I observed.) The staff is friendly, but pretty casual about how the campground is run. Someone was in our assigned space and it took some doing to get it straightened out. This despite the fact that there were plenty of open spaces. Overall the campground was just OK. It could be so much better with a little effort.
This campground is part of Sonoma Coast State Beach. Mixed tents and RV sites. I don't think it is suitable for big rigs - 40 feet +, but saw some there. Two pull-through sites. Fresh water and flush toilets. Showers and RV dump are available at Bodega Dunes campground which is about 6 miles away. Usage is free for campers at Wright's Beach. Beach is pretty, but swimming is not recommended as it is dangerous. Dogs restricted from trails, as is the case at many California state parks.
We had a back in site. If there are pull-throughs, I didn't see them. We have a small trailer and site was fine for us, size wise. Sites are dirt and not level. Hook-ups are on wrong side. This was curious to us, because obviously recent work has been done on hook-ups. Maybe just too much effort to switch to correct side. Didn't appear particularly friendly to big rigs with slide-outs. Pleasant setting. Staff fine. Kind of rustic, which is fine with us.
I agree with the above remarks, but rate the park slightly higher. The facilities were very nice. Only drawback is no shade in overnight spaces, but that isn't much of a problem in January. There is road noise, but that doesn't bother me. Park well maintained and staff helpful and courteous. We would stay here again.
