The campground is under new ownership and they are really trying to make some changes. We camped here under the previous owners and they have come a long way. The pond is divided into a fishing hole and swimming hole. The swimming side is really clean and treated so there is no slime on the water and the bottom is hard sand not muck, the fishing side is well stocked with a nice variety of fish. New this year are paddle boat rentals and bike rentals and also a newly built playground. There are 5 brand new cabins for rent if you don't have a camper or there are also campers on site that can be rented as well. None are furnished so campers have to bring their own bedding. The chapel is really quaint and church services are offered for those that wish to partake in them. Every weekend has a theme and there are lots of group activities. The seasonal campers there are very friendly and know the area well. Hiking trails are weaved through the woods and it is very quiet and in the country. The whole campground is like under a tunnel of trees, so every site is very shady. This campground is also close to Michigan International Speedway but rates do go up on race weekends.

The campground was very, very large and there were a lot of seasonal campers there. It almost felt like you were intruding on a huge party. We were placed on the edge of the primitive sites so our direct neighbors were also week enders and were very friendly. They have a full restaurant and nightly activities along with an ice cream shop, however, when we went in we had to wait for nearly 5 minutes before anyone offered to wait on us and they were not busy at all, only 5 other customers. The store inventory was very scarce and other than the pond, there wasn't much else to do. We were in town for a softball tournament so we really only spent nights at the camp but if I were going to spend alot of daytime hours, I would look elsewhere.

The sites are smaller than other places we have stayed and we had to do some creative things to get our pop up and van to fit without the bumper of the van sticking into the road, but we were able to make it work. The pool was very nice and clean and the folks at the office were very helpful and knew the area really well. We enjoyed the volleyball court and my boys enjoyed both the basketball court and shuffleboard court. The playground was really quite nice, although our kids are teens and did not use it. We chose this park as a cheaper alternative to the Cedar Point campground. The park is located just minutes from the park entrance which was very nice after a long day at the park. We visit the park every summer and were glad to find somewhere we could stay a couple of extra days and make a mini vacation out of it. The train was kind of a nuisance and yes, it came once every hour all day and night, but after the first couple, we didn't really pay much attention to it and it was not loud enough to wake us at night.
