Our site was adequate. We had huge rocks to drive over, but once we were set up, we had a nice view of the road. We enjoy when they have a burger shack so we can enjoy not cooking occasionally. Unfortunately, the burger/ice cream shack "Bubbas" that they advertise never opened and they told me it's because of the economy. I was disappointed in the condition of the pool. It was also very cold. There is nobody to pick up trash. We had to drive it to the back of the campground which was an extremely rutted road. That was a terrible inconvenience. There were no activities for any children to participate in. There is a nice playground though.
My only complaint is that the roads throughout the campground were very rough and need to be bladed. Otherwise, the campground is fantastic. Big, open, level sites. Beautiful pool. Clean restrooms. The staff is very accommodating. Close location to Mystic and to Foxwoods Casino. We will definitely revisit this campground.
I have to admit after reading the previous reviews I was a little skeptical about our reservation at this cg. The office staff was very courteous in providing us with a map of our site location. We got set up and walked all over the campground to familiarize ourselves. The campground was well kept, not overly noisy, and very easy to get around in. It was a little tight to back into our spot, but we didn't have much problems. The water pressure was a little slow, but we consider the fact that the cg was full and we didn't complain. The road we were on went from paved to a gravel road, but we didn't have bicycles, etc., so it didn't bother us a great deal. The campground seemed to be stocked with the necessary essentials. It's only a quick 5 miles to get to stores if you need other supplies. The playground, basketball courts, shuffle board, horseshoe pits and baseball diamond were all in great shape. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The only complaint that I had was the streets were very dark at night and they need more campground lighting in spots, but otherwise, we enjoyed. All in all, I will enjoy returning to this campground.
The campground is huge. Our site was very spacious and we enjoyed that part greatly. 2 of the 3 showers in the shower house closest to us were out of order for the entire 3 nights we were there. Our son's campsite had a broken faucet which we reported on our first day, it got fixed two days later. As for the pool/hottubs, the indoor pool was a little cool, the hottub was broken but was still hot. They had no problem taking our $8 per person (there were 9 of us) on the float trip. They cart you 3 miles up the road promising that if you have problems or just get tired to go to the road and they'll pick you up. We returned to our campsite after watching the beautiful fireworks display in Cherokee to their "Barney" night watchman. Our teens laughed maybe just a little loudly and he flashed his flashlight at us and told us to quiet down, it's quiet time. It was 11:03 pm on a Friday night. All the other people drove in after us and we never saw him call other people down and we're good, respectable people. I did see him yell at a couple of teens that were walking to a vending machine for them to return to their campsites. It was humiliating to have this man treating people so rudely. As for the other staff, they were young so you felt the need to re-confirm everything you were told. Otherwise, the area is beautiful.
We truly enjoyed our stay. The campsites are rough ground/loose stone, but faily level. The roads are rough stone and on hills which made it rough for the kids to ride bicyles. The staff was great and very accommodating. The showers were all working and clean during our stay of 4 nights. Just make sure to bring jackets, as it was very cool every evening, but we expected such with being in the mountains.
