Have camped here over my 49 years many times, launched boats here since I was a kid. I was shocked this year, when we were not allowed to park in a site and register until we were grilled by the campground host as to the reason for our stay. Husband stated he was working on a road crew in the area and I was camping out with him. We were informed the BLM parks are for road travelers, not workers or local Alaskans, and directed us to a sub-standard swampy camp site, in a bog even though the campground was empty.
Owner/operator was rude, unwelcoming, and accusatory. Apparently she does not want Alaskans who live or work in the state to stay here. This she says AFTER taking our money. In 49 years of camping I have never been treated more poorly; she'd rather have empty RV sites than rent a site to Alaskans. She called us names, made threats, and in general was so disdainful that we will never stay here again, even if its the only RV park available.
