We were here last year and we liked it enough that we came back and plan to stay 3 months this time. I would give this place a 10 except I have to deduct some for the 7 miles of gravel road. It was good to see that 6 of the front row facing the mountains were the same ones in them last year. This is not an over night stop. If you want a quiet peaceful place with great people to be around this is the place. If you want highway traffic and trains all night this isn't the place for you. We'll be back for 3 to 4 months next year.
This park is about 12 miles from Deming,NM. It is in between some mountains and is considered the High Desert. The owners are very nice, and the people here are very friendly. There is always some kind of activity going on at the club house and even if you are new to the park, you are always invited to join in. The park is located at the end of a 7 mile gravel road. But you will be glad you traveled that 7 miles. The park, the owners, the other campers, and the scenery are well worth it. The amount I listed was for a monthly rate.
From US 61 just follow the signs to the Canton Ferry. When you cross the RR the Ferry is to your right, the CG is to your left. Sites 1 through 9 are W/E only, the rest are W/E/S. All back-ins on concrete. Good view to your left of Lock 20 you can sit and watch barges pass through the locks. Look to your right and you can watch the Canton Ferry cross to Meyer IL. When you are parked you are 50' from the Mississippi River. We really like it here. Contact the Canton Police Dept for more information.
Very nice park. Dirt parking. Not many sites where you can get a roof mounted sat shot out of. But the moss on the trees is just beautiful. If you just want to be lazy and relax, this is the place. Will go back
Even with no hook-ups we enjoyed this park very much. From the plans I saw on future work, they do plan to add electricity sometime. They are still in process of rebuilding the motel and restaurant. The visitor center and marina are open. Will go back.
Park has lots of full time residents. We stayd here because of the Air boat ride. Nothing to do at the park, but if you just want a place to park, its OK. Grass parking and not too level. Hwy 41 which runs in front of the CG is very dangerous. We were in the CG for a week and their was 3 very bad wrecks within 2 miles of the entrance to the park.
