The Friendly Beaver campground we experienced didn't come close to the high ratings shown in some directories. In our opinion the campground allows seasonal sites to become trashy. We took photos showing cluttered, permanent campsites that look like dumps and storage for old, deteriorating equipment. There is no appeal in camping in that environment. They moved us to another site at our request but made fun of us for not wanting to stay "in the woods". We love the woods and normally prefer wooded, secluded camping. This is nothing but a trailer park in the woods with golf carts racing by every few minutes. The only great thing about this campground is its indoor heated pool but even that can't bring us back ever again. This campground's club affiliation should be questioned.
This is a clean, very friendly KOA. We enjoyed the kids' activities, boat rentals, playground and dog park. We stayed in a prime site on the lake with easy access. We walked through the campground and would have enjoyed most all of the other sites. There are a few seasonal sites, but they are kept tidy. The staff was helpful and we will definitely be back!
We stayed here for the first time this fall and loved it. Woodford is a clean, high elevation state park campground in the Green Mountain National Forest. Many prime sites have lakeside views. We enjoyed some time paddling on the lake. Canoe, rowboat and paddleboat rentals are offered. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a very quiet campground at night. Contact the staff ahead of time to reserve a site suitable for your equipment. Some will be difficult to back in unless driving the wrong way on a one-way loop but that's OK. The restrooms are cleaner than most state parks as the staff have recently sanded/refinished the walls and wood interiors. We will definitely return to this state park next year!
