A destination campground with all the activities and amenities. Tall trees and very national park like in atmosphere. We overnighted here twice during one trip. The second time, the fall color was spectacular. The staff was friendly and efficient.
We stayed here twice. First time was pleasant. Lady manager was nice. Did not use sewer. Sewer on assigned pull through was too far toward back of site, and male manager denied relocation. Park was less than 10% occupied. Convenient first and last trip location, but will not stay here again.
Rate is with FMCA discount, 30amps. This is a well run, clean, and pleasant place to stay if you are visiting the area or just over night. Easy access off I-57. Basically pretty quite, even though fairly close to the highway. We did not use the laundry, but I looked in there and it looked very clean and up to date. A big plus is the manager is very nice and tries to accommodate in any way she can.
This park is for senior RVers, with no children. It's a fairly basic campground and OK for an overnight stay. Clean and well maintained. The sites are in an all gravel area without shade or grass. There was about 20 feet between electric posts/dump access. Other than that, there are no markings for sites. I believe that the pull through sites are 30 amp, with 50 amp possibly available at back-in sites. The afternoon we stayed was 90+ and the reflection of heat off the gravel was so intense, we stayed in the RV until the sun went down. There is a pavilion in the center with picnic tables and some lawn around it. There is also lawn around the perimeter, so RVs backed in around the edge have lawn behind them. WiFi was good. I did use a Hawking external antenna to bring it in, but that worked very well. It was quiet and we felt safe. Also, the man who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. We might stay here again when passing through.
Fairly pleasant CG with some shade and some open pull through sites available. Easy access to the I-20 bypass. Some traffic noise from the busy road that is in front of the park, but not bad. The owners were very nice and eager to please. We were just passing through and needed to stay cool for one night, so this was a good overnight stop. We did not use the CG facilities since we have them in the motorhome.
Recommended. Thanks to a previous reviewer, we opted for a electric/water site and were well satisfied. There was a clean looking dump station if you need it. Of course, they had full hook up sites if you prefer. The owners were friendly and helpful. We had a nice 50-amp pull through with a shade tree for the west sun. Very quite, no noise. This park was clearly well managed, clean, nice office with store items, swimming pool, and easy access to the interstate. Wi-Fi was good. Everything looked good. We could have easily stayed here several days if we had business or touring to do nearby. FYI: Rate above is before GS discount and tax. Final amount was $31.95 (a good value).
Highly recommended, and thank you to previous reviewer. We did not need the dump station and opted for a Electric/Water site and were well satisfied. Clean looking dump station is available if needed. We had a really nice pull through, 50 amps, shade tree for the west sun, and picnic table. Really quite, no noise. The park is clearly well managed, clean, nice office with store. Excellent Wi-Fi. Owners were friendly and helpful. We were passing through, but could easily have stayed here a few days to see area attractions. Access to the interstate was excellent as well. FYI: rate was before GS discount or tax. Final amount with tax was $34.07, a good value.
When we arrived, this park appeared to be a nice, well maintained park but our first impression was that it had been oversold by previous reviewers. Our first day was OK until it rained and there was not enough gravel at the site, so mud is an issue. They have planted a lot of little trees, but for now, there is no shade. We were assigned a spot next to a unused narrow grassy space close to a park model. That was pleasant, we thought. Then, the second day, with many vacant spaces available, they assigned the very narrow grass space to a pull behind with three adults, three children, 2 dogs, and two vehicles. They were amazingly good neighbors, but their campfire was too close to our rig. They were outside most of the time, and there was visiting just outside our bedroom window after we went to bed. Not really the campers fault, but poor judgment from the park owner. I delayed doing the dumping duties in order to avoid being in the middle of their picnic. This previously unused grass spot should not have been assigned at all, since so many other spaces were available. Their trailer and truck had to be parked at an odd angle due to the space being undersized which meant I had to ask them to move their truck in order to exit when we left. It really should have been a tent site. The laundry, and other facilities were over there and looked nice, but we have to base our rating on what we use. The site, the appearance, etc. Good, not great. Good Wi-Fi. I would have given this campground a 9, but due to our particular experience, it gets a 6. This campground is much better than some of the overcrowded campgrounds in Townsend, but doubt that we will stay here again on our next trip to the Smoky Mountains. We did see a really nice campground in Townsend that will probably be our choice next time. FYI: Rate above includes a discount + 3 taxes = $45.87 per night. Also, just noticed that we paid $6 more per night than the other reviewers. One really excellent thing about this CG is the BBQ concession on certain days including the weekend. Best BBQ we have had and nice guy who runs the concession. This part of the camp experience gets a 10 for sure.
This is a very pleasant and well run campground with lots of nice sized trees and good spacing. I totally agree with the previous reviewer that the new owners are doing a great job. They are continuing to make site improvements and landscaping to provide a very friendly comfortable atmosphere. I noticed a clean well maintained swimming pool, a pavilion for gathering and other facilities that looked good. Our RV is self contained and we never use the other facilities, but considering the good attitude of the owners, I am sure it is OK too. We had planned to stay two nights and decided to stay and extra day to rest since we liked it here.
Park like atmosphere and lots of really nice trees. Roads excellent, sites are grass lawn with underlying gravel. Very nice. Utilities are convenient and spacing is generous. We had a nice pull through with a tree we really appreciated due to the 90 degree heat. The only thing that was a bit frustrating was internet access. The actual Wi-Fi signal was always strong, and sometimes the connection to the internet seemed like fast DSL, but sometimes it crawled, and most of the time it's nonexistent in the evening. Very frustrating and time wasting when your trying to plan the return trip, thus the lower rating. The park was far from full, so a few quests were using all the bandwidth downloading movies or or other large files. I hope management was not uploading the days business files. One park we visited had a solution to this by blocking internet hogs. This park should consider this solution. The rate shown above is with GS discount + tax.
Nice place to stay. Well maintained and pleasant. Owners are very accommodating as to site choice. We had a really nice pull through with grass lawn, picnic table, and shade. Also, the park was quite with minimal sound from I-57. They are getting a new Wi-Fi provider, so earlier review concerns should be taken care of soon. Also, when you get off I-57 on Main you need to make your left though a vacant parking lot next to the actual turn because the highway department, in their infinite wisdom, have created a no left turn median. The city and other business are planning to purchase the lot to create a permanent drive. For now, just use it as everyone does.
We stay at this park two or three times a year and, in our opinion, it is the best park for visiting Kansas City. It is clean and well managed. Do make reservations or you may end up in an upper overflow area which is far less desirable. The hook-ups are conveniently located for most RVs in the regular sites. I think the train problem is overstated by other reviewers. The WiFi is weak, so we used a USB WiFi device with it's own antenna instead of the internal laptop WiFi card. We like this park pretty well and consider it reasonable accommodations, but not a destination.
A good overnight stop when driving through, but not a destination. Basically a two level gravel parking lot with RV hook ups. Mostly pull-through sites. Trees around the perimeter, and the area was fairly clean. Propane is available. Just off of Hwy-69 but it was fairly quite. At the price, it is an good alternative to a Wal-Mart lot. We would stop here again when passing through. Address is 6476 N. 35th Street West, Porter, OK 74454.
This is a very pleasant park with a comfortable feel and really nice folks who run it. Our site had a tree that gave us some shade in the evening. Three were lots of medium size trees. The hook ups were convenient and the spacing very reasonable. I think all the spaces are pull-through. There were plenty of grassy areas. Noise level was low. We had stayed here a month before and decided to stay again since we were traveling back through. I am sure we will stay here whenever we are nearby.
A very nice park, but the dump station location is a big problem. I would have given this park a 9 except for the dump station location. We had to unhook the car and so we could leave the RV at the extreme back of the pull through pad in order to reach at all. It defeated to purpose of having a pull through site. What this meant is that when it was time to leave, I had to do my chores, then pull the RV to the front of the pad before I could connect the tow car. It was pouring rain, so I really felt that not being able to connect the car the previous day was a major inconvenience. They really do need to fix this. I visited with other RVers who just did not use the dump station and waited until their next stop. I only dumped gray water because I had to. Other than dump station, I agree with the other reviewers. The location is great, the park is well maintained, and has pleasant small trees and grass. The paved sites and very nice. We stayed there in April 2009 in a 32 foot Class A, pulling a small car. I may stay here again since it is the best location option, but would go elsewhere if there was an equally good option.
