This is a clean, well maintained, and very nicely manicured RV Park. The facilities are spotless, the pool area is well maintained and enjoyable, and the hot tub is large in size compared to most. The sites have decent spacing in between RVs, although the pull-throughs are a little closer than the back-ins. The cement pads are clean and without cracks. Pet area was suitable and served it's purpose. Trash pickup is provided throughout the day, and the shuttle to the casino runs 24/7 and will arrive within a couple of minutes of being called. I would have given a rating of a 10 except for the internet service. It is decent when it is working, but is limited to just one device. The entire park is on a slope, so about 1/2 of the sites are not quite level and require quite of bit of leveling of the RV. Several RVs are with tires off the ground (although our site was not too bad), and this park lacks a play ground for children. We will definitely return to this park.
Old but clean parking lot style RV park. The entrance and exit roads are shared with an adjacent mobile home park. 50 Amp is available for $5 more. Sites are narrow but come with an aged, cracked cement pad. Electric pedestals are old and appear kinda of iffy as we needed assistance locating the breaker switch, located at another pedestal. This is an OK, no frills one night place. Price included 30 amp, Good Sam discount + Tax.
A clean kept park with two ponds on site. Roads are dirt/gravel. Each site comes with its own ramada and table, although the sewer connection is at one end of these very long sites and the ramada at the other end. All the RVs are parked closer to their neighbor's ramada than their own. Each site has what was once a section of grass, although is appears to have not been maintained as only bits of grass are left behind with the section mostly returned back to sand. Each site is provided a trash can and was emptied regularly. The ponds are nice to walk around using a dirt paved trail, a cemented trail and some park style grass would be a great improvement. Guard shack and the entrance are manned 24/7. I didn't like the visitors policy: No visitors after 6:30 pm and all visitors must leave by 7:00 pm. Decent park located close to a casino, just too much desert for my taste.
If you can go with out cable & free Wi-Fi, and sewer (although a dump station is on site) this is an excellent overnight stop if your east/west bound on I-40. Close enough to I-40 to not be an inconvenient deviation, yet far enough to get away from any Hwy noise. The park is clean, generous space between sites, paved roads & sites, camp fire rings, long pull-thrus, and a very peaceful AZ mesa to enjoy and relax in.
What a disappointment. Advertisements and web site are filled with nothing more than glamor shots. The amenities: Office, pool area, restrooms, laundry, exercise room are all deserving of a 10 rating. I didn't visit the billiard or TV room, but I'm sure they would be nice as well. It ends there. This is an old RV park filled with older RV, and many permanent residents. The park is infested with ants. Traffic noise is loud from I-8 on one side and E. Main St. on the other side. Sites are gravel, some have old looking cemented sections. Ours did not. This was not a park we wanted to bike ride around in, instead we got a couple of DVDs and stayed inside. The park is also too far from the coast to feel any ocean breeze. 2 adults, 1 child, 1 pet cost $60 on line for one night, and then charged another $9 and some change when we arrived for tax. This RV park is more expensive than actually nice parks on the coast. We only stayed one night.
This was our second overnight stay. We stayed here the weekend prior as well, which fell under their winter rate of $53 per night. The park was nice enough for us to stop a second time. Staff is friendly and helpful. Park is clean and well maintained. All sites are cemented and grassy areas are throughout the park (although the grass is struggling to survive as can be expected in the desert). Cement through the park is very cracked and looks old, but still better than dirt or gravel. Park has a pond which is nice to take a walk by. If you walk too far you'll find a second dry pond which is not a pleasant site and look as though it could be a mosquito heaven if not cleaned up soon. The community fire pit area has been let go and is in need of some attention. Over all this is a nice RV park and served it purpose for us, as we were just passing through to our destination both times we stayed.
Sites are spacious and the staff is friendly. That being said, this RV park has been under new management since Jan, no improvement noticed since our last stay in 2010. Areas that would be ideal for a playground or pet area are used for heavy equipment and RV storage. Many of the tenants are permanent with older RVs. Attached wooden decks, patios, storage shed, and large propane tanks are common through out. Restrooms are extremely small. Showers are in desperate need of re-caulking. In the laundry facility, half of the machines do not operate. Kit Carson has much potential, but in its current state, it has been neglected for a very long time. I love the tall pines, but this RV park just is not an attractive park for vacationers. We will not stay a 3rd time.
The sites are narrow, your awning will be inches away if not touching the neighboring RV. Luckily our site is located where there was not a site next to us, but no sewer connection. The restrooms are clean, no laundry facilities. The pool is large and warm. Campfires are allowed at your site. Exiting the park can be difficult if more than one RV wants to dump. A line of RV develops with no room to squeeze by.
This campground is well deserving of Trailer Life perfect 10 rating. Gated entrance, courteous employees, paved streets, cemented parking pads with cemented areas for sitting space surround by grassy areas and bushes. Daily trash service. Nice pool area. Smallest hot-tub I've ever seen. Campground store had minimal items at best, but local grocery store is just down the road. Pull-throughs are large with no picnic table. Sites around the lake are smaller with a picnic table and a great view of the lake (pond). Sorry, not a golf player.
If your here for the casino, this park will serve its purpose. A clean, safe and affordable place to park. Mostly dirt and gravel except for the cement pad to park on. No picnic table. Spots on top of the hill appear larger than the lower ones but you'll have to drive or take the shuttle to the strip. We would stay at this campground again but will park in the first couple of rows that are paved. Did not use restrooms, laundry or swimming pool.
