This was a corp of engineers campground on Lake Stockton. Rates were 18.00 but we got 1/2 off with Senior Pass. There is water available but not at the sites. Toilets are vaulted and there was a shower house near the gate but we never used it. The hosts were helpful and friendly. Easy in and out for our kayaks across from our site. Great value for the price.
Rate is Passport America and had to be cash or check. We couldn't get Wi-Fi at our site but there was a nice room off the baths and laundry area or you could sit on the porch. The laundry was 5.00 a load which I felt was high, we went into town to a very nice laundry. When we left we had to make such a sharp turn due to one of the permanent residents being parked on the side of the road in front of our camper that we put a hole in the nose of the fifth wheel with the bike handlebars. There was only one bath each for men and women but they were huge, clean and very nice. Would probably stay here again if we ever get back to Lander.
The park was full, and they squeezed us along the side of the entrance road. It wasn't much of a site, but we were grateful to have a place at all. Sites were very narrow, but we got used to that on this trip. Restaurant was overpriced for the small portions. Even though these narrow sites seem to be the norm in some areas, I wouldn't stay there again.
We stayed here after a terrible day on the road. The rate was Passport America and cash was required. Although there were sites available we were placed on a site without a picnic table and far from the office that our Wi-Fi wasn't very good. There were a lot of trailers that seem to be permanent residents but we found that often on this trip. It was inexpensive but I wouldn't return.
I was disappointed in this park. This was one of the few state parks that I have stayed in that I didn't feel a sense of friendliness or helpfulness from the staff. We explained that we needed a site we could launch the kayaks from and were told site 74 would work for that. Maybe, if you're a mountain goat. We had booked for three nights but canceled one night.
It is a great park! Beautifully maintained and one of the largest and best laid out sites we have experienced. Lot 68 was right on the lake but didn't have much shade. We would go for lot 70 next time. We only got to stay one night due to availability but would have loved to stay an extra night.
We loved it here. We were on lot 51 right on the river. Next time I will try to get closer to the dockmasters to get the wifi on our site but there was a nice porch to sit on and tap into wifi at the dockmasters. The mist on the river was beautiful to watch. Groceries and restaurants were nearby. If only state parks had cable; my life would be complete. As usual staff was friendly and helpful.
We had site 86 which was right on the lake so we could launch our kayaks. It is a lovely park and any other time of the year when the temperature wasn't over 100 degrees it would have been very enjoyable.
