Serviced RV sites are fairly wide open with no shade trees. Unserviced sites look nice with lots of cover. Located beside busy(noisy) railroad tracks. Had two negative encounters with the staff one of which was overbilling our credit card. We will not stay there again. I recommend the National Park campground if you are heading east or a private RV park in Revelstoke if you are heading west.
Located close enough to Banff townsite to ride your bike into town. No fire pits are provided for in this camp ground. If you want a fire pit but no services, consider the Tunnel Mountain tent campground. We'd stay here again when wanting to explore the Banff townsite and immediate area.
Park has great views and is well kept. The price is a bit steep but can be overlooked due to the lake and wi-fi access. There are no shade trees for the full service sites, however the tent sites have great cover. Beware of the 'phantom range horses' at night. They love marshamallows :)
Please be aware that this park is not located close to Waterton town site. It is at least a 10 minute drive to the townsite. The advertising of 1.5 mi to the park gate is misleading. Sites are dusty and poorly kept. We left after one night even though we prepaid for several nights. Their refund policy is poor and I would caution anyone that is considering staying here to book only one night and 'pay as you go'. I bet that you will 'keep going' to another campground.
