We chose to come to this park because of reviews by previous guests. We were not disappointed. The park is super clean and exceptionally well maintained. The sites are concrete, level and the hook-ups are located in the correct places. The WIFI works very well and is fast. Free cable TV is at every site but we did not use because we have satellite. The owners operate the park themselves and are very friendly and helpful. The park is located in a quiet neighborhood with little traffic and no road noise. This is a premier fishing area and the park owners are also professional fishermen, and operate a seafood shop a few blocks away from the park. If you want a quiet, clean, friendly, relaxing place to camp, this is the place. we will definitely return.

This is no longer a Texas state park but has been turned over entirely to the Texas Historical Commission. They have spent a lot of time and money to update the facilities. Sites are large, gravel and level. The utility pedestals are new and in the correct spots. Each site has a fire ring, pedestal mounted grill and picnic table. The power was strong and dependable. We only used 30 amp but I think the full-hook-up sites had 50 amp as well. The grounds were kept in pristine condition and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a nice playground for the kids. The park is big rig friendly. Ft. Griffin is off the beaten path, therefore, it is very quiet and relaxing. Albany, 15 miles away is a very neat little town of historic significance. It has a world class art museum and some very good restaurants. If you are in this area this is a very worthwhile stay. The price reflects the $4 per person entry fee plus the $22 camping fee for two persons. The Texas official Longhorn cattle herd is located here and can be often seen grazing from the full hook-up sites.

Park is easy off and on from I-10. Sites are large and level in an area with trees, however, we did not have a problem getting a satellite shot. Owner's were very friendly. Office check-in hours were odd, 7 - 9:30 am and 3 - 6:00 pm. Self check- n envelopes available at other times. Electricity was strong, all hook-ups were properly located and a picnic table was furnished. Park was far enough away from I-10 that road noise was not an issue. If you have a self-contained rig and want a peaceful, inexpensive place to spend the night or a few days to visit the Orange/Beaumont area, this is a good choice.

Reserved site via internet, requiring payment in advance and no chance of refund in case of cancellation. Internet receipt stated payment in full. Upon check-in I was informed that prior payment was only a deposit. I had to pay an additional $54. Female who checked us in stated that internet reservations were always a problem. Her attitude was gruff and very unfriendly. She should not have a job dealing with the public. Wi-Fi didn't work. When I talked to the owner about it he stated that "we don't charge for it". That was the end of the conversation. Cable TV hook-up was fuzzy and of poor quality. RV sites are grossly over priced and management is "in your face". We've been coming here yearly for over 10 years, but never again.

Outstanding campground. Sites are large, pull-through and lots of room between sites. Park host was friendly and very helpful. The park and camp sites were very, very, clean. Our first time at this park, but we will be back.
