What a disappointment. With all of the high praise, we were really expecting a top notch campground. Instead, we found a parking lot that sits on a hill above Branson. There was very little shade from the summer sun. Campsites were tight and mostly gravel. Most people staying at ABC are seniors with high end motor homes. It was too hot for a campfire in July, but ABC doesn't allow them anyway. Yes, the staff was nice and the place was very clean. But, we won't go back. How does this place get a "best campground" award when it's not really a campground?

This is a wonderful campground about 8 miles outside Gatlinburg. Campsites are wooded and fairly wide. We checked out several campgrounds during our visit and found that Smoky Bear had some of the most spacious campsites. Most are gravel, but there are several paved pull through sites available for big rigs. Each campsite had a fire ring and picnic table. We never saw a piece of trash. Not even a scrap of paper laying anywhere in the campground. It is immaculate. This campground is nicely landscaped and spotless. During our visit, we saw the owner setting out new plants. The owners are some of the nicest people we have ever met. A owner came down to our campsite after we checked in and asked if we needed help in setting up. He went out of his way to get information for us about local attractions. The swimming pool and hot tub were closed for the season, but appeared to be very well maintained. The bathrooms/showers are some of the cleanest/nicest we have ever seen. They were actually decorated!! Paint, wallpaper, curtains, pictures and flowers were in each bathroom. They were spotless. I'm sure the owners went in and cleaned the restrooms several times a day. I never saw a single water spot on the faucets!! Nice campstore had basic items and firewood. There is a nice playground available for children. There is also an area around a fire pit for groups of campers. There are two rental cabins in the campground. There are only two negatives I should mention. The cable TV only has 5 channels. The campground is right on highway 321, so there is a little traffic noise. That's why I will give Smoky Bear a "9" rating instead of a "10." However, every other campground in Gatlinburg is located on a highway too. These two minor items certainly would not keep us from going back. Smoky Bear is an awesome campground, and we will always camp here when we are in Gatlinburg.

This is absolutely the nicest campground we have been to. The campsites were beautifully manicured. We had a campsite in the 100s section and it was very nice. The place is spotless. We saw some of the campground employees vacuuming the roads!! There is a tram that runs hourly to and from the beach. The bathrooms/showers are modern and spotless. We love Topsail and plan to visit there again!!

Beautiful state park. Wide campsites with fire rings and picnic tables. This is one of the few state parks with a full hook-up section. Restrooms and showers are very modern and clean. We will stay here again.

The facilities are spotless and the employees are very nice. However, I can only give ABC a "4" rating. Why? Because ABC is not really a campground. It is a large parking lot for expensive motor homes. (An RV park) Most of the sites are very close and tight. There is no shade whatsoever. No trees and very little grass. And this so called "campground" does not allow campfires. This is a great place if you have a large motor home and you plan to stay inside your motor home during your time there. To call ABC a campground isn't fair to all of the other real campgrounds in Branson. Those of you looking to have a real camping experience should look somewhere else.

This is a very nice campground situated in a wooded area on the outskirts of Branson. Compton Ridge is close to all of the Branson attractions, but off the main highway. We found the campground owners to be helpful and friendly. Our campsite was near the center of the main campground across from the outdoor swimming pool. The restroom/showers were very clean and modern. A laundry room was just a few short steps from our campsite. The campground has two swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor. There is a playground, basketball and tennis courts located near the center of the campground. We enjoyed our trip here and plan to visit again in 2006.

This was a one night stop for us. We were very impressed with this campground. Lots of grassy areas, however, each campsite was covered with large gravel. The gravel would be a plus during rainy weather. Staff was friendly. We had called ahead to reserve a spot knowing that we would be arriving after hours. However, when we got there, the manager was still in the office waiting for us. Our campsite had a picnic table and fire ring. There is just a little highway noise, but not enough to be a distraction. This campground had absolutely the cleanest restrooms and showers we have ever seen. If we decide to make a trip to the Nashville area for a few days, we will definitely stay here again.

This is a wonderful campground on the Missouri side of Bull Shoals Lake. The campground sits on a hillside on the edge of the water. The campsites are large. many have concrete pads. Our campsite was a large site with a picnic table and shelter. Next to the picnic table was a fire ring and built in seating along a rail fence that separated our campsite from the others. When we stepped out of our trailer in the morning, we had this beautiful view of the lake. The bathrooms were very clean. The campsite sits above a marina; boating and fishing are the big attractions in this area. Above the campground is a family style restaurant that offers great meals anytime of the day; their breakfasts can't be beat. The campground is gated, and there is a campground "host" who lives on site during the camping season. The only reason I didn't give this campground a "10" is because only 5 of the 33 campsites are reservable. All of the others are on a "first come, first serve" basis. Be wary of renting campsites B01 and B02. They are listed on the ReserveUsa website as single sites, but they are literally side by side. I would definitely call them shared sites. Sites B12-B15 are the remaining three reservable sites, and they, along with all the other sites in the campground are very nice.

This is an awesome campground. We found the restrooms to be fairly new and spotless. The swimming pool complex is very nice with a large pool, kiddie pool, and lazy river. There were poolside activities daily for children. Live musical entertainment was provided poolside a couple of days during our visit. The campground has a very nice camp store, laundromat, snack bar, and playground. An outdoor pavilion provided evening entertainment and church services. Check-in was a breeze. All the employees are so very nice and helpful. This campground does not rent golf carts to guests, and we found that to be a big plus. We got tired of dodging the golf carts in the other Myrtle Beach campgrounds. We had a shaded lakeside campsite which was very nice. We have now stayed at all the Myrtle Beach campgrounds, and this one is now our favorite.

We camped here once, that was enough. We had a small campsite near the middle of the campground. Our campsite was so small that one end of our pop-up almost touched the brick wall dividing the campground from the resort next door. The other end of our camper was just a few feet from the road going through the campground. We had requested a campsite right across from the restroom. However, the restroom was frequently dirty with stopped-up toilets. We often had to walk down to the restroom closer to the beach. But frequently those toilets were stopped up, too. We were not impressed with this place at all, and we will not go back.

We really enjoyed this campground. Our campsite was right on Lake Barkley. The campground has many shaded sites. There is a boat ramp located in the campground for those who want to bring a boat. The restrooms had white ceramic tile on the floors, but the restrooms were very clean. Each campsite has a picnic table and fire ring. Some campsites have tent pads. We will definitely stay here again.

This is a wonderful state park on the headwaters of the Current River that offers trout fishing as its main attraction. The campsites are wide and many are shaded. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. The restroom facilities were clean and offered shower stalls with plenty of hooks and a shelf for clothing and personal supplies. There are several "loops" in the campground...one is for tents only. Camping cabins are available for rent, too. There is a lodge with a "snack bar" where you can get breakfast if you want. There are hiking trails throughout the park. We really enjoyed camping here, and will make this state park a yearly stop. You will need reservations, however, because it fills up early.

Beautiful state park with campground. All campsites are wide with concrete pads and picnic tables. Fire rings are located on most sites. The park has trails for walking and horseback riding. There is a swimming pool located in the park just a short drive from the campground. The park has a nature center as well. If you are planning on visiting the St. Louis/St. Charles area, this would be a great place to stay. It's a thirty minute drive west of St. Louis.
