While no alcohol is allowed as this is a City Park, it's a beautiful location: right on Moses Lake. Lots of docks for fishing. Be forewarned, the electrical hookups are at the front of your site. We learned the hard way and had to scoot up just a bit after initially setting up. In Moses Lake for a 13U baseball tourney at the HS, so just a 15 minute drive from here.
Extremely tight spaces! 1st site (#165) we were assigned to, there was no way we could maneuver our 29' into it! There's a fairly steep bank opposite the site & cliff down to the beach on the other side. Don't have 18 year olds w/no experience parking rigs, assigning spaces! Ended up in site #117, along the row of permanent residents. Couldn't use our fire pit: there was a 10ft sloped space between back of our trailer & the fence along (busier than you would expect) Hwy 262. 1st private park we've maybe ever stayed in, w/no TV cable offering. No grassy, open areas to even go play games/catch/frisbee. To top if off, office claimed our site was right in middle of their 2 WiFi hot-spots so if we really needed access we could find an empty site and use the picnic table. We learned the hard way, if you don't have watercraft, don't come to MarDon.
Great location, clean park and facilities. Have stayed twice in 2 months. Not a super kid-friendly park, in terms of the rules. Also, no fires! But we never learned if that was the park or city/county rules. They also water way too much! Each site has a sprinkler head in it, but we learned after the first night to cover it with a rug so not everything was soaked in the a.m.!!
Only rated it an 8 because of it being right on I-90. Great walking trails, very woodsy - a true camping feeling. Would definitely return, after we walked thru and noted sights on the back side of the hookup loop, further away from the I-90.
Basically, parking lot camping. Sites are very tight & the original one they had reserved for us wouldn't work because of hill at the end of the site. We never asked but only very basic cable was at our site. Very convenient for the softball tourney at Kashe Park though. Wouldn't stay there otherwise just due to no amenities.
Somehow they lost our reservation. Called in Feb. for a Memorial Day weekend spot & calling a week before arrival to confirm. We think they overrode our reservation w/someone in our same party w/the same last name. No apologies, etc. And they don't require deposits so I couldn't really prove that I ever called in the 1st place. Because of the Hood Canal Bridge closure, traffic on Hwy 101 in Hoodsport is up 63%, and it horrendous, ALL NIGHT long!! The way the hook-up's are, we had to have the bed in our 5th just feet away from 101 & it sounded like semi's were going to come barreling into us!! Plus, there's no privacy, not much for kids to do & Hoodsport doesn't offer much.
