We stayed here because it was the only RV park close to the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. This is a run-down, no-frills place & it is always full. There is NO SEWER.Be prepared for bare minimum in exchange for location! If you go, do not expect anything else! BUT everything imaginable is there in Jersey Cit, plus the light-rail train is a block away. The ferry to Liberty Park/Ellis Island & New York is close by as well. Yes, we could actually see Miss Liberty from the park! This campground appears to be a cement parking lot turned into sites for RVs. Liberty Harbor Marina is adjacent & there are many other vacant cement lots that may be used for storing boats. However, we felt perfectly safe there & had absolutely no problems for the 2 days we stayed! If we visit again we would reserve here.
We stayed here while visiting Acadia National Park. Campground was clean, free showers, clean pool, rec room for teens, large laundromat, 20% veteran discount for my husband. The only thing I did not like about the campground was it was so big. All the shady/pretty sites in front were permanent or seasonal & we were put out in the 'back 40' with nothing but site after site, no landscaping/trees/etc. Had a long walk to the only shower-no parking area close to the shower house itself. HOWEVER, the views at nearby Acadia more than made up for any shortcomings of the campground! If we return, we will probably check-out a smaller place.
We were very comfortable here the 5 nights we stayed. There is no pool and we were not on waterfront, but had a nice, shady site. Since we were here on 4th of July weekend, the campground was full. There is a recreation room with books, games, pool table, a small bar and a restaurant on site. Restaurant is open to public with many special all-you-can-eat events. Showers are FREE! Short walk down to Fundy Bay to see awesome sunrises. Wi-Fi cost $3 per hour after complimentary 30 minutes daily. Loved walking streets of Eastport! Campground has a bus and offers reasonably priced tours of area attractions. We would come back here and probably will next year!
Campground is NOT oceanfront! There were a few sites near the rocks that lined the casual definition of 'oceanfront.' Rocky, sea-weedy, had an ancient pier, pay showers and narrow turns. This small park was very nicely landscaped with trees and flowers but sites were small and rocky. This is a good overnight spot, but not for enjoying the oceanfront.
Arrived at nite in a thunderstorm. Was slightly disappointed the next day to discover there was no view to speak of from lookout mountain! We only stayed the one nite & the owners/staff were very friendly.
This is a great park & I would recommend it. We camped in a shady site right on Crystal lake. Although there is only water & electric & no sewer lakefront, they have inexpensive honey wagon service on request. The lake is beautiful & there was very little noise throughout the park. No pool but swim in clear lake at your site! There is a small sandy man made beach, kayak & canoe rental, pet friendly, courteous staff! Harrison is very small town but short drive to Bridgon for a drive-in movie or Wal-Mart in Windham.
