This place is small and needs some updates. There are several perms in the park and those site are not kept clean. Very nice people and the gal at the office can provide a good price on a hair cut for you. The best part, without a doubt, was the fishing pond. The boys landed several large bluegill over ten inches and about four solid keeper bass. We only fished for about 45 minutes and each of them caught four and lost a few others. I would honestly go back just to get access to that pond. Don't expect much, but it does the job for a night. There isn't much in town, but services are available near the highway exit.
We liked this place. Yes, the staff was young, but very friendly and helpful for our needs. My wife wanted a great steak and the girls at the desk sent us to a great place east on the interstate with great directions. The kids loved the pool. Our site was level and very large. I was able to sneak in our Suburban and 16 foot enclosed trailer next to my pickup and toy hauler. I had no complaints, but understand everyone's experiences are different. It is close to the interstate for easy access, but that does mean some sites get a little more road noise. We would come here again during game weekends.
You are packed in there, but this place has so much to do. The pool is nice, there was entertainment in the evening, the river is close, they have a stocked pond, the store is full of food and supplies, and there is a pretty good BBQ place with decent prices. I really hope we can get back here to enjoy the area on a weekend or week day when things are not was full. Oh, and the staff was more than helpful and very friendly.
This campground was chosen since the KOA was full. Overall, we were not impressed, but it did the job. The mini golf course was in need of repair and also needed a little attention. The store was minimally stocked, except there were plenty of Yogi Bear items for sale. We have kids and the ice cream social, basically an employee selling a small scoop of ice cream under the pavilion, left much to be desired as well as the hay ride. What mostly soured us were the other longer term campers that seemed annoyed by the few kids that were at the facilities. At least for the weekend we stayed, it was not the best experience. Not saying it will be bad for others, but hopefully this was a rare situation due to other campers creating a poor environment. There is a very nice and open pet area and the airport gas stations, a few miles east of the park, were wide open and easy to get in and out.
I can't remember how much we paid, but the price was pretty reasonable. The site was gravel but pretty level and easy to get in and out of. The sites do share hook-ups, so beware of where yours is when you pull in. We had a bit of a stretch between sewer and water hook-ups, but all was okay. As said before, its on a lake where people fish and there is an area for perms. We found a retired guy that comes down twice a year, camps for a few weeks, and does nothing but fish. We ended up catching a few good sized pan fish from the bank and the boys had a great time. Not much to offer in the closest town, but there is a bank and small grocery store. Its quiet and we plan to stop here on our way through next year.
Although it is old and close to the noise of the interstate, I really liked this place. I think it was mainly due to the friendly couple that worked the front desk. These were some of the most helpful folks we met on this trip, and they were great to talk to. The park is clean and most sites are fairly level. The pool was great, and the kids loved it. The other thing I loved was the gas station at the turn off. It was large and had plenty of turning room. That alone made it a perfect stop for me.
We stayed here when the theme park next door was closed. As a result, it was very quiet and pleasant. We didn't get time to use the pool, but the kids enjoyed the playground. This park is huge, and golf carts are available to rent in order to cover the distances. From what I was told, you can reserve one, and it will be waiting at your site. Over all, this is a nice place with several things to do in the area that focus around the theme park. However, I can see the park getting hectic during the busy season when it is packed with families.
This was a great park that we stayed at for an overnighter. The folks at the desk were great and very helpful. The park was clean, well organized and easy to get in and out of. I gave it a 7 only because it is off the interstate, and you can hear the traffic. It does have swimming, but one half of the pond is for swimming and the other half for fishing. No big deal, but my wife didn't like that idea for the kids. Overall, we liked this place, and the kids enjoyed the playground and ice cream in the store.
