One of the nicest State Parks I've stayed in considering the views and walking areas. Showers were good with plenty of hot water and vault toilets were clean at all times. Had a Prairie Dog Town consisting of about an acre and that was really cool to watch. Had trouble with my hitch and ranger came right out and helped. If in the area will be staying here again. Must be great for fishing with all the boats parked.
Electric/Water hookups for 6 vehicles in back of City Park on Hwy 92 (across from white frame church). Sign in back of park welcoming RVers with suggestion of a donation for the stay. We stayed 3 nights. Quiet little town (population 305) with a cafe serving a $4 lunch buffet daily if you are 60+. Bathrooms could use a good cleaning but they were usable. Great place to stop and relax. If in the area will stop again!
We were the only one in the Quail Run loop for 3 nights. Lots of room per campsite, table, grill and fire pit. Space was pretty level -- only needed 2 levelers squares. Bath/Shower house was odd to me as this is the first I've seen with no ceiling over the small showers. It's just you and the sky! Showers are also small with no doors or curtains. Would not have used if others were camped and for this reason I will not come back although everything else was great.
Being out of state we had to buy a vehicle permit ($25) that increased our out of pocket cost. Campsite was on water front with stunning sunset views. Pull through and pretty level. Had one tree at the end of the site that provided late afternoon shade for about 1/2 of our truck. Showers did not have warm or hot water.
Nice canopy of trees provided great shaded campsites. Bath house was clean but old and would be nice if it was updated a little. Level and roomy site. Would have been an excellent 4 nights if the mosquitos weren't so bad. Several campers left a day early due to the mosquitos. Area has lots to offer for recreation but they are miles away as this is a big park.
First of all, the bathroom and shower area were some of the cleanest I've used in a LONG time. The staff at the onsite little convenience store was friendly and helpful. Campsite had good WiFi access. Those are the plus factors! Campsite was small - no table included. Cable had been cut off months ago but hadn't been taken off their website (we wanted cable to catch up with some programs). There was a "sewer" smell daily, at different times, but cleared up as time went by.
