This is the second time we camped here and we hope there will be a third. This is a fantastic place to stay sitting in a valley behind a hotel where you check in. The campground feels isolated as the trees and hills obscure the area. The staff was friendly and helpful checking us in quickly, as they did three years prior. The gravel sites are easy to find, level and large with easy access to all the hook ups. A 10 x 12 concrete patio holds a picnic table and we had plenty of room to set up a 12 x 12 domed canopy for cooking and eating in comfort. The bathrooms are cleans and the shower stalls are large with plenty of room. We would go back again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Narrow paved access roads including a rather steep climb up from the highway. Sites are gravel, but some are so loosely packed as to leave foot deep ruts. Site 35 is sold as a "pull thru", but it is pull thru only when site 36 is empty. This site is also so sloped that leveling is nearly impossible (with front tires several inches off the ground, the rig still slopes). We had them move us to another site. The other site was decently level and long with a concrete patio and fire ring. From talking to other campers, they seem to try to put you in site 35 first and then move you if you complain. Don't accept site 35 unless you have a very short rig. Power ok, water pressure ok, sewer ok, no cable, Wi-Fi ok (decent speed and it did not bounce up and down as some do), strong Verizon cell signal, satellite ok (at least in lower pull thrus - no trees). Some highway noise and the school band practices next door in the afternoons. On some weekends, they have events in a large amphitheater next to the lower pull thrus that can run past quiet time. The facilities in the Days Inn (where you check in for the campground) are available to campers as well. We will consider this campground when next in the area, but will also take another look at the alternatives. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I would highly recommend this campground for it's cleanliness and easy access. It has excellent access to and from the Interstate. Only downsides there is no cable or parking for registration as you must go inside the motel to register. If in the area again, I will stay here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Don't miss the turn or it's 2 miles to turn around. Very steep entrance to get to the hotel to register. The lower level pull thru sites are not very level. Bring extra wood to level up. Or you may end up with one wheel off the ground. Otherwise, this campground is very nice. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Sites 23 through 34 appear to have been neglected. They are nowhere near level, part of the road is very rough, grass is growing in the sites, and there is virtually no light at night in that section. There is no shade in most of the sights in the campground so basically overall it is a parking lot. The pole to hang trash on is an excellent idea. The office staff encountered was friendly. As far as we could see there is no security in the campground. We likely would not stay in this campground when in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Shore Services: 50 amp, Sewer good, Water at 60 psi, Shore Services are positioned so that they are near the middle of the site making it difficult to position the trailer so I can have room to park my truck. Wi-Fi: would connect but could not get network, AT&T Cell Phone has a strong signal, Sprint Air Card & Verizon Air Card work well dBm about -72 for both. No Cable TV. Site is large gray gravel but not level. Very low on the door side so bad that my tires are off the ground (we have auto leveling). Site Size is wide enough and long enough depending on how you park your RV. Site Closeness is good. Far enough apart to allow awning and plenty of room between RV's Roads into and around campground are asphalt. Did not use the restrooms or laundry. No Long term tenants. Maximum stay is 15 days so no permanent guests. Directv Satellite signal easy to access. Discounts are the standard KOA. Trash is picked up at the sites each morning about 11am. Payments are credit card, cash or check. This is a quiet park. It is far enough from roads and no roads through or around the park to cause a problem. We would say here again if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

When you are looking for the road for this look for the Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell sign. The road is squeezed in between the two signs. There is a very small KOA sign. Thankfully, we were not towing, so after we missed it we were able to turn around about a half mile down the road. We agree with the above posts about it being up a hill, down a hill, and curved. Over all it is a nice park and we would stay at this park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We would have rated this park higher except for the tight turns, narrow streets, steep climb up then down to get to the park. It was not a big deal to have to walk to the office in the hotel unless you have problems walking. Never saw any staff other than the front desk staff at the hotel. Limited number of big rig sites. Probably won't stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice KOA . We have had bad experiences with KOAs so usually stay away from them, but traveling on I-79 there were very few RV parks, so gave this a try. You do have to be careful getting there. I used the directions from Map Quest and got there great. When they say behind the Days Hotel they mean just that. Register at the Days Hotel. And there is a buffet after 5 PM at the hotel you can use. The meal is wonderful. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There are nice sized sites. We did not have to unhook truck. There are steep hills to climb since there are different levels on the mountain. We were told TV reception was poor, but we were able to use satellite on the upper level. Guests are able to use all the hotel's facilities. We would stay here again. THE ENTRANCE TO THE CG IS BESIDE THE KFC ON RTE 4 which runs along side of I-79 at exit 67. This CG is atypical of a KOA -- no staff or office situated on the CG. It sits behind the Days Hotel, where you register. It is a very nice cg with an immaculate bath house. No shows scheduled at the amphitheater this summer according to a staffer. Roads are paved, sites are gravel with concrete pads for table. Not too much going on at the nearby outlet mall. Enjoyed the quaint little town of Sutton about four miles west on Rte 4 and the dam there. Also enjoyed nearby Holly Gray park -- ask at hotel for directions. Would return for a couple of days. This park is very clean and quiet with paved roads and gravel sites. Our site was not level, but a few manual adjustments, and we were okay. The main road could use a bigger and better sign to get you up the steep hill to the Days Inn. Break out your reading material as there is no cable or television signal. The $40.00 fee was a bit steep as there is nothing to do or see in this area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice enough campground. Don't agree that it shouldn't be a KOA. There are three areas. The first has the longest pull-through sites, concrete pads, fairly level, near an amphitheater (summer concerts?). The second has somewhat shorter pull-through sites, and will require leveling blocks or jacks. The third is on top of a ridge (fairly steep grade) but very scenic, overlooking a high school baseball field. They now have Wi-Fi but it is erratic. The lady at the Days Hotel (where you register) said we could use the hotel amenities (indoor/outdoor pool, exercise room, restaurant). Pricy, but would stay here again. Pretty pricey for not having cable or Wi-Fi. Beautiful setting, and the nightly prime rib and shrimp buffet in the Days Hotel is awesome. Outlets are at the same exit. The driveway leading up to KOA is steep, winding, and not well marked. There is a second even steeper drive which can be taken but not recommended. We were not sure where to check in but managed to find the right spot, the same spot to register for the hotel. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Our site was easy to find, a large level gravel area, a concrete deck with a table. I had no trouble parking and getting set up in a quiet location. The campground is built into a wooded valley with sites in the valley and up on the hills behind the Days Inn. The bathrooms are spotless but lacking in quantity, 2 showers and limited toilets, this is the only real minus. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here overnight on our way east. I called ahead to get a pull through site as we would be arriving late and we were 40ft with a jeep in tow. Upon arrival at 10 pm, we were told they had over-booked. They had one pull through left which we took (considering the time). We were not able to level correctly but made do. Otherwise, this campground is o.k. It is close to the interstate and easy to get to. We would stay here again, but I would want a guarantee for a better site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There are Pro's and Con's to this one. Easy access off I-79 and for people traveling there is not much in the way of easy offs from Charleston to Clarksburg for big rigs, unless you are willing to search and find some of the COE's. The COE's are still a ways off the interstate. That said, I feel its over priced for amenities offered. No tv at all, even the digital couldn't pick up anything. The pools in the Days Hotel were available to campers, but we found it a bit awkward and didn't take advantage of that. There is no security and we noticed a few cars roaming through after dark which might make some a bit nervous. The site also took 2 levels to level it out and we were still to low in the front with our jacks completely extended. The amphitheater is nice, we came here for the Aaron Schust concert. They have several different artists throughout the year and its right in the middle of the campground just so you know, that doesn't bother us. It might bother some on a Saturday after traveling all day. They seem to end early enough though in the evening. The wi-fi did work for us with no issues. Sounds like a dreadful review, but really not that bad. We would probably look elsewhere if staying again, maybe SJ state park, with full hook ups, the problem there is no chance for a traveler or over night as they book solid through the season. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Check in at the hotel which, by the way, was actually 2 large buildings and very nice. You have to drive down very narrow and steep road to get to the site. After arriving, you feel like you are in a bowl and surrounded by hills. Sites have picnic tables and concrete slabs. Slabs are located such that they are not usable after pulling forward enough to hook up to water, power and sewer unless you have a rear door. The Campground advertises Wi-Fi but it is NOT available at the RV site. When asked about Wi-Fi, I was told that I would have to come to the lobby to connect. It is a long, steep walk unless you drive. They offer no discounts except KOA. There are no TV signals available and no cable hookups. We camped here with a fifth wheel and would only stay here if we could not find another place. Very pricey for a no-frills campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Yes this park is on the expensive side, particularly for Father's Day weekend. But if you read this or go to the KOA website you know that before you come. We loved it & would have rated at 10 if not for the price. Bathrooms are immaculate. Close to the expressway without the expressway noise and dirt. Nice grassy flat sites with concrete place for the picnic table. Pretty generous area as compard to most RV parks. We had no problem with internet & we were camped just about as far from the office as we could get. Close to Sutton Lake which is one of the nicest lakes in the country. At our site we had a hard time picking up Direct TV but we don't care about that & noted in another section there was no problem. You check in at the Days hotel and have use of those amenities & there is a free ice machine in Kampground building. The Days Hotel also has a good Sunday brunch. On the weekend we visited, there was live music at the ampitheater. The concert was fun and over by 9:30. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Since this campground has become a KOA the price has increased but the amenities have not. There is no cable TV and reception over the air is extremely limited. The sites are not level and the roads are very narrow. The only amenities available belong to the hotel which is located in front of this campground. It is very over-priced. There is a concrete patio on the gravel site, but the grassy area is very unkempt. If you are here when it rains, expect mud. Sites are larger than your typical KOA, but not as nicely kept. Since there are not many options in the area, we guess they can name their price. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

All of the reviews posted are not the problem here, the problem lies in the city (town) that is given as it's (the parks) location. The location listed is Sutton, WV. but, the actual location is up the freeway a short distance in the town of Flatwood, WV. I don't understand how the location name mistake came about but the real location should be changed. This is a great park. Every lot has a concrete pad. Our picnic table was broken and the staff promptly switched it out. The Mountain Lakes Amphitheater is a part of this park and had weekend concerts. We could hardly hear the concert from our site, which was in the Ballpark section. This was a great section but had a steep incline when leaving the area. We were able to get Wi-Fi outside our travel trailer, but not inside. You can hardly hear the interstate from the camp. We overnighted here on a Saturday. This is now a KOA campground - Flatwoods KOA. When I made my reservation I was informed that there was a concert that night in the attached outdoor concert pavilion and there might be some noise. The campground is part of a hotel that sits on top of the hill while the campground is below. The pools (indoor / outdoor and exercise room is attached to the hotel. If you want to use them you must walk a rather steep hill or drive back up. The registration is done at the hotel registration desk. The staff was courteous but having to park at the hotel and then navigate the hotel parking lot can be tight for larger rigs. The concert noise did not bother us at all but they allowed concert goers to park down in the campground. This made getting into my pull through site somewhat difficult as cars were parked on the access road. The concert was over and most people gone by 10pm. The bathrooms and showers required an access code to enter (provided at registration)and were very clean. There was stagnant sewage smelling water all around my site. On of the KOA workers stopped and I asked if this was sewage and he claimed that they had had considerable amount of rain. If this is true then they need to address drainage. For an overnight stop this campground worked out well and I probably would stop again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We didn't use the bathroom, so we may have rated it a little higher if we'd gone and it was clean. The relationship of the campground to the hotel was a little different at first, but it gave us the use of the indoor pool, and since it was cool and rainy the day we arrived we wouldn't have been able to use an outdoor pool (which is also available). The sites are nicely spaced up the hillside. The play area for the kids was older equipment and not as nice as some. It was quiet and nice for a campground this close to a highway. I decided to stay here for a night en route to Kentucky - my first solo outing towing my car with our RV. I based my choice on the other reviewers' comments about ease of access (compared to another campground I was considering along the route). A primary goal was to *not* have to unhitch the car on this stopover. My GPS had me make a wrong turn at the stoplight near the hotel, but other than that, I was able to get up the hill and into a campsite (after the requisite stop at the Day Hotel's registration desk) without any problems. I arrived just before nightfall - and was very glad I did. I'm not sure how easy it would have been to navigate into my spot in the dark, as the narrow road into the campground itself wasn't well lit. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Looks nice as the sites have a pad; but are gravel and some looked not quite level but workable. It has a nice ampitheater and the grounds are nice. This is the best kept secret in West Virginia. The park is ultra modern, with beautiful bath room-shower and laundry facilities. Although there are only 3 bathrooms and 2 showers for each, men and women, We never encountered a problem with occupied facilities. If necessary, one can use all the facilities in the hotel, including in and outdoor pools, sauna, exercise room, free internet access etc. The staff, whether it be maintenance or hotel reception, was friendly, helpful, pleasant and professional. We had the privilege to meet the owners of the property, and were amazed about the friendliness and down to earth attitude. They made us feel like part of the family!
