About 10 miles north of Park Rapids. Nice road to park, easy entrance. Water, sewer and electric worked fine. Parked on grass right at entrance across from storage. Mostly seasonal campers and it appears they only have 2 spaces for transient RVs. Gravel/Dirt interior roads. Fire pit and picnic table. Nice swimming pool. We would stay here again, good value. Never again! We were told that we had a nice site. HA! We required 5 boards to level our camper on one side. 1 step out our door we encountered a stump. Fine sand/dirt ground cover would make for a HUGE mess if it rained. They ask for payment in advance for your entire stay (should have been a clue), non-refundable. Had we not already paid, we would NOT have stayed here. Couldn't find any sites in the entire park that we would have actually enjoyed using. The pool, showers, lodge, petting zoo, game barn and pavilion were all very nice. HOWEVER - if you are a weekender - don't bother. The sites that you are required to use are not worth the efforts. If you are "down by the lake" they don't tell you that it's a LONG walk uphill to the pool area. If it rained down there - the mud would be awful. Drive the extra 15 miles north and camp at Itasca State Park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Haven't camped here in a year because they moved the weekend camping from lakeside to other side of campground. Used to be right on the lake but now it is just seasonals there. Good pool, ice cream and location. Nice little lake also. Will try again this year to see how new spots are. Some spots are very difficult to get into. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice place with lots of trees. Almost a state park feel to it. Has a very big pool area that the kids enjoyed. Also has a petting zoo with rabbits, goats and a donkey. Also has 2 playgrounds and a arcade. If this place gets a decent rain, it would get a little messy. We would go back if in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Two adults & 3 kids (age 6-8). The lake view from our wooded campsite was spectacular! The bathrooms looked brand new and were spotless. They have a nice lodge & pool. There is a little beach where the kids hunted snails. Nice playground. Lake Itasca State Park is a short drive away. We were sad to leave our little slice of paradise. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
My family camped here during the 4th of July holiday in 2003. My kids just loved it!! They had a golf cart/bike parade, so my children decorated their bikes and were a part of the parade. They also had an ice cream social up by the pool! The bathrooms were very clean and private. The staff there were very friendly and helpful. It was so nice to finely find a campground that had activities for the children and with such nice facilities!! I would recommed trying it out. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
They have new managers here this year & they do not care about their campers at all.We were there for Memorial weekend & the first day the dock broke & they never fixed it the whole weekend. The bathrooms were filthy & the showers had no hot water everytime we tried to use them.We had camped here last Memorial weekend & reserved the same spots for this year as usual when we were checking out. This year the manager came to our sites Monday morning & told us she had already reserved them for somebody else for next year. Doing this before even asking us if we would like to reserve them ourselves for next year. Saying this is their new policy now, if someone wants a spot it does not matter how long you have been reserving it.Would not recommend reserving a spot ahead of time, you could get there & they would put you somewhere else wihtout asking you first. We camped here in a Motorhome.
