Beautiful state park campground. Electric only. Lots of grass and trees making this a pretty, lakeside campground. Lots of space and greenery between sites. Dump station. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. We picked it because it was close to relatives that we were visiting. Other reviews that warn of low hanging trees and hard to back into sites are right on the money. I caught the top of our trailer on a tree leaving the site and ripped our roof (not a good day). We stayed here on a Wednesday and Thursday and the office was never open, though we saw a ranger driving around. You use the honor system to pay for firewood, which was kind of neat. The camp host was very nice and came to check on us while we were setting up. The bathrooms are very nice and clean. These are some of the best bathrooms that we have found at state campgrounds. Hiking trails are nice and the lake dam is worth the walk. The price for this camp site is fair enough through I would be very careful about driving a motor home through here - or anything else you care about for that matter. The low trees and site access drop the rating from what it could be, in my opinion. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The sites are very private due to all the mature trees around each campsite. Some sites are hard to back into because of the narrow road. Roads were all blacktop but narrow. You have to watch for low branches. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Camp hosts checked on us to be sure everything was alright. Has nice swimming beach and picnic house for groups. The hiking and nature trails were excellent. Not all the sites have electric. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is in extreme SW Minnesota a little SW of Pipestone. We loved camping here for 4 days. The campground is roughly divided into two parts: Those North of the restrooms (sites 7 through 20) are wooded and private while the others surround a football-shaped grassy field. For motorhomes, we think sites 3, 23, 25 are excellent with the others being very good. This is a small park so in a day or two you can hike all of its trails, swim at its nice beach, rent its canoes ($8/4 hrs) or paddle boats ($2/hr), and chat with your neighbors. Cell phone service was poor but sometimes possible. No Blackberry digital coverage in campground. No interpretive center operating (State funding cutback). The river is dammed just below the park so you've got a nice lake, boat launch, and docks within easy walking distance - and this is not a busy park! You're close to Pipestone so you might catch festivities in that area last 2 weeks of July and 1st week of August. Pipestone National Monument is awesome to see too. We camped here in a Motorhome.
